WMS Gaming
Artist, Dreamer, Programmer: Andy Saia is a man as cunning as he is mysterious. He’s the main contributor to the open source ActionScript game engine StarlingPunk, which he uses to power his indie game experiments.
Currently he resides in Chicago where he works at WMS Gaming in their research and development department prototyping Slot Machine Games of the future.
When he’s not making games he’s usually experimenting with and ripping apart the latest technological gadgetry he can get his hands on.
The last couple of years have marked a drastic shift in the ways Flash games are made and delivered. Developers can now communicate directly to the GPU, allowing access to powerful new techniques, graphics effects, and performance increases. This talk will show you how to harness the power of Stage3D to create cross-platform hardware-accelerated 2D games.
We’ll go over some of the challenges faced when transitioning to stage3D game development and show how you can take full advantage of the latest tools and frameworks such as Starling, StarlingPunk, Adobe Scout, tile set editors, and Texture Packer.

James Speers, from BaseZero Productions, shows us how Adobe Muse lets you design reponsive, dynamic websites without code, while Adobe Business Catalyst lets you connect to back end data, metrics and features like e-commerce without code.
Curious about how this works? Come join us. Don't leave your friends and office mates in the dark. Tell them about our facebook page.

Mobile is a hot item right now as everyone wants their products and servies to be accessible constantly. We will look at some example applications and then create our own application for iOS and Android using Sencha and PhoneGap talking over the pros and cons of using web technologies along the way.
For the designers in the group we will talk about the power, and limitations, of CSS and building within the expecations of the mobile ecosystem. Developers don't worry though there will be enough code to get you excited as we will look at the MVC framework of Sencha and the developers workflow. We will also jump into the foundamentals of javascript and look at why this messy language is so fun to code in.
If your up for following along and creating your own app bring your laptop and be ready to type away as we dive head first into mobile applications and the future of cross platform development.Â

June Meeting: How to Become a Successful Game Developer with Adobe Flash
Event posted on Jun 05 by
Richard Humphreys
With the advent of mobile app stores, there is more potential than ever for independent game developers to arise and become the next generation of game innovators. But how can small or even one-man teams possibly manage the technical complexities of developing on so many diverse platforms? Enter Adobe Flash, a visual development tool with the capability to export games to web, Android, and iOS.
Ross Przybylski, creator of Hero Mages, will share how he developed a successful cross-platform, multiplayer game and overcame the challenges of building a game engine, programming artificial intelligence, and designing a multiscreen interface using Flash.
