Big thanks to AJ
July 22, 2010
At last night's CFUGWA meeting at Curtin, new manager Brad Fleming presented retiring manager Andrew Mercer with a gift from all the regular members as a token of our appreciation for his efforts - a wine pack.
Thank you to everyone for the wonderful gift pack for my years of service to the User Group. I would like to think the group got as much out of it as I did - I felt I have grown as a developer through the UG, and I thank every one for that.
Being a UGM has opened doors for me in the CF community for which I am also grateful.
Of course, AJ will continue to be a regular user group attendee, and we look forward to seeing what he can achieve in his new role as Railo community manager for this region.
Also on the night, James Holmes presented on WSS4CF - WS-Security for ColdFusion.
Changes in Usergroup Management
June 26, 2010
There's been some changes in the CFUGWA management. Andrew Mercer, who has been doing a great job as manager for nearly 5 years, is stepping down to focus on his new role as Railo community manager for the Australia-Pacific region.
Brad Fleming, a relatively new face around Perth, will be gradually taking over more of the manager's role in the coming months, as he learns all the processes. Existing co-manager Kay Smoljak will be helping to run the group in the meantime.
AJ's enthusiasm and great ideas have kept the group alive and we all owe him a big debt of gratitude - but we can still expect to see him at meetings, especially as they're often held in his office! Brad has already shown a lot of commitment to the group - driving up from his home in Australind each month to attend meetings - so we can look forward to his fresh perspective on running a user group.
EotW Adobe User Groups Breakfast
September 18, 2009
Seeing as Flex/ColdFusion/hardware wizard Justin Mclean was going to be in Perth for the Edge of the Web conference, along with Adobe Australia personnel Mark Szulc and Andrew Spaulding, we thought we'd make an event of it! And what better than a geeky breakfast in one of Perth's top cafes?
We need to know how many are coming so we can warn the venue, so please RSVP as soon as you can
Hope to see you there!
