February 2014 Meeting Recap
Entry posted on Feb 03, 2014 by Alice Pettey

Hi all.  Tonight we had a wonderful meeting.  We covered a number of diverse topics including 3D printing, Photoshop Generate Assets feature, website development, Photoshop and WordPress, Dreamweaver and WordPress, OpenSource Alternatives, and SocialMedia.

There had been a question submitted during January about Photoshop CC’s new 3D print feature, so we discussed the new features and how it lets you print to a local 3D printer or to an online 3D print house.  How 3D content can be downloaded and imported from sites Adobe partners as Daz3d, Archive3D, TurboSquid, 3dvia.

Our discussion in Photoshop let us looking at an older, but useful tool Photoshop Generate, which allows you to name your layer/folder with an image extension & of course turn on the Generate Assets feature under File (in Windows) to instantaneously create a folder of images from your Photoshop file, that updates with Photoshop changes. In exploring how this would be useful in creating websites led to discussions about website creation (html, css, php, wordpress).

Once the discussion turned to WordPress we discussed the prevalence of WordPress site and their development, template creation, and touched on the use of Dreamweaver and Photoshop in the creation.

During an aside about the interesting types of files that are provided for print or to use as design assets we briefly touched on the OpenSource software that was available.

A member brought up the topic of social media management which led to another discussion regarding ways of automating social media posts.
