Our group consists of interactive designers, freelancers, video editors and motion graphics artists, writers, print and prepress folks, you name it!

Anything ""visual design"" -- which incorporates most all Adobe products -- is part of our focus.

Our group is part of several Adobe communities in Kansas City.

We meet on the first Thursday of each month at Johnson County Community College in the Regnier Center building. Usually on the second floor, we move around from month to month based on college schedules, so check the display monitors on the wall when you arrive to find out our current night's location.

Membership is free to anyone with an interest in Adobe visual design products.

*** Please note: the normal meeting night for KCDesignCore happens to be this same evening; we are TEMPORARILY giving our meeting night up for the IxDA group for the month of June, but we will STILL have our Photo Walk two nights later: Thursday, June 6th (separately). This event with Dave Hogue at Cerner is of course optional, but it's important enough that we wanted to "get out of the way" in KCDesignCore to allow everyone interested to be able to attend. Having our Photo Walk on the same night is unnecessary since it's a separate event. ***

Dave Hogue has spoken many times at D2W Conference here in town, now is your chance to see him speak on research.

Cerner is hosting IxDA KC's next Meetup event at its Innovations Campus where we'll be treated to an engaging discussion by David Hogue on one of the most critical and yet occasionally undervalued UX principles - interaction research – as well as an unprecedented tour of the new UX lab at Cerner. Anticipated research topics include:

* Researching optimal user interactions,
* Testing the learnability of a design,
* Researching with a limited (or no) budget,
* Measuring the success of a design,
* ...and more!

Cerner is graciously providing us with food (and maybe a few prizes)!

David Hogue, Ph.D. is VP of Experience Design at Fluid, a design and development agency specializing in eCommerce and online retail headquartered in San Francisco. Areas of interest include HCI, UX, usability, XD, ID, data visualization, and applying psychological theory and research to real design problems. He earned his B.S. in Psychology from The Pennsylvania State University in 1989, his M.S. in Applied Psychology from the University of New Orleans in 1992, and his Ph.D. in Applied Psychology from the University of New Orleans in 1994.

He speaks regularly on the topics of Information and Interaction Design, Usability, and Online Customer Experiences, and has been invited to present at SXSW, D2W Conference, InfoCamp, Mobile+Web DevCon, Web Experience Forum, Adobe MAX...to name a few.

SAVE THE DATE! We're working on three possible locations for our Photo Walk this year, and once we get support from each of them, we'll be putting the list out to you for a vote on where we'd like to go.

Please note: this is NOT the normal meeting night (I know, we keep switching things around). But we have purposely moved it out a couple of evenings (to what used to be our "old" meeting night) in order to accommodate the IxDA special event with Dave Hogue which got scheduled on top of our (new) "normal" meeting night (we've already shaken our fists at the sky, don't worry).

IF THIS IS A HUGE PROBLEM FOR YOU (since you must be present to win at the semi-annual raffle, and we've moved everyone to the first Tuesday but are now temporarily changing that during a raffle month), please let us know offline and we will do our best to ensure you are eligible for the raffle.

More details to come...obviously...but we wanted you to get this all straight on your calendar.

We're all visual designers, so photography is a natural part of what we do. And we've started the annual tradition of making our summer/June meeting into a photo walk somewhere in Kansas City. It's a chance to stretch your wings a bit, and try new things with your digital camera.

At the end of the night, we'll collect everyone's work and present it to the non-profit organization who sponsors us, to augment their communication materials.
