Free Blackberry Playbooks and extras from Adobe for User Groups!

RIM is giving away Playbooks if you submit an app to the blackberry store and are accepted. Must be before March 15th, 2011

Adobe are adding to that offer with additional Raffle Prizes to User Groups submitting RIM AIR Apps. You must tell Adobe before Feb 28th, 2011

Apps submitted: Twin Cities Traffic Cameras, Memory4Kidz, sequenced, Queue Manager, ThaiWriting, Big Two, swaggervine, AIR, Belgium Zip, My Grade Tracker, Flash, Remote, Moobix, SolarLogger, Revolve, & E-Solat

1) ALL user groups who have at least one app submitted get an extra software raffle in 2011.

2) TEN individual user group members (or managers) drawn at random from all entries get a copy of FB4 Premium.

3) THREE Grand Prize winning user groups get a new mobile device to raffle off at an upcoming user group meeting.

TO ENTER, you need to have SUBMITTED an AIR app to Blackberry’s App World AND you need to fill out the following form. Any member of an Adobe User Group or any group manager can enter. Multiple entries from one user group increase your chances to win.

Hi all,

The User Group last night was fantastic, I think it was really good to see people attending from so many different companies and disciplines. Great to see so many new faces, even though some of our regulars from Derivco couldn't make it, the group was still bigger than ever, which is very exciting.

Kyle-Ben Snyders gave us an incredibly fast construction demo of a functional game character in Flixel (who looked suspiciously like someone.. can't think who ) I think this really enlightened some of us to the process behind the 2D games which are so massively popular all over the web these days. Kyle-Ben was a true legend and battled through code troubles in his first public talk of this kind. Check out http://www.kosoftgo.com

Michael Cross shared his valuable experiences of short film making with the group, and showed us a one minute winner made with Brad Roodt (also in attendence), plus talked us through the Fahrenheit trailer, Dead Moon; a film constructed entirely of old Durban footage, and the gorgeous South Jersey Pom-Poms music video.

Thanks again so much to our speakers! Also to our sponsors, Keyline Graphics, and to Skye, the Manager there.

As a general thought for the next groups, I would love to hear from any graphic designers, illustrators, animators, photographers and motion graphics artists who might like to demo and/or speak for us. If you'd like to do it but are not sure how, or are a bit of a nervous case, maybe we can meet at Keyline and do a bit of a run through or get some tips. It's not about the presentation skill so much as what you have to show.

Due to popular demand, I've decided to start using Facebook as the main communication channel for DAUG meetings and events.

Please go here and 'Like' the page to subscribe to the User Group posts. I promise not to spam you with crap. :)

And if you're an anti-facebook stalwart, Don't worry I will keep posting events and large anouncements here too for the time being.

Julian, thanks so much for offering to help on this site but there's not an easy way to make you an 'admin'. However, once you're on FB I'll admin you there - would love to have some RSS feeds etc setting up.
