As was announced at our meeting last week, we are now officially the Sacramento Adobe Users Group. Our new web address is www.sacramentoadobeusers.org, although www.sierrammug.org will remain active and eventually redirect to the new address.

Our co-manager Ted Fitzpatrick is heading up a project team to design a new logo and develop all-new content to go on the web site. If you'd like to participate, please get in touch with Ted.

    Thanks to all who voted.

    Happy holidays!

I hope everyone has a safe and wonderful holiday season.

We've been talking about giving the group a new name for some time now. I've put together a survey of the names that have been suggested. While I know it's a busy time of year, I'd like to ask everyone to take a moment and fill out the survey. There's only one question, so it will take no more than one or two minutes to complete.

I'll compile the results and will announce our new name at the January meeting.

Speaking of which ... I had hoped to be able to do a preview of FlashCS5 in January, since Adobe had said at MAX that they were planning to have a public beta of the product available by the end of the year. However, yesterday they announced that they are canceling those plans. (If you'd like to read why, check out http://blogs.adobe.com/flashplatform/2009/12/there_will_not_be_a_beta_for_f.html.)

So, our fearless co-manager Ted Fitzpatrick will be presenting instead. Sticking with the Flash theme, Ted will be talking about ActionScript. I'll send out a normal meeting announcement email in the next week or so, but in the meantime mark your calendars for January 13 (one week later than normal) to learn about ActionScript and to see what we'll be calling ourselves going forward!

Thanks for continuing to participate in the group - we couldn't continue without you. Enjoy the rest of 2009, and we'll see you in 2010!
