Come join us for another user group meetup on March 3. This time, we have invited a special speaker, Nicholas Small, from the Cappuccino team.
Cappuccino is a new, open source Rich Internet Application framework. It abstracts a lot of the gnarly details of HTML and JS, and provides a clean, consistent platform for rapid development. And yes, it will work on the iPlatforms, both as browser apps and native apps.
Nick is one of the key developers behind 280Slides, and a core contributor to the Cappuccino framework. We are very fortunate that Nick is here in Ottawa. He is going to give us a presentation on Cappuccino, and the upcoming Atlas product. It would be a great opportunity for Flash developers to check out the upcoming alternative platforms.
As always, there will be beer. So grab a coworker and come join us.
NOTE: this meetup is on Wednesday, March 3. NOT Tuesday.

The Ottawa Flash Platform User Group is bringing you another great event on July 7th, with presentations by two big names, Jonathan Snook and Julian Dolce. There will be a wealth of knowledge and experience in the room, so you won't want to miss out. Come to watch, listen, learn, ask questions and get to know your fellow Flash/Flexers in the Ottawa area.

We hope to see you all there. The community needs your support!
Hi all,
Hope you enjoyed the holidays. Tristan moved to Toronto so I'll be managing the Ottawa Flash UG this year.
Let's meet on February 3 (Wednesday). The theme will be "Cool Stuff You Learned During the Holidays".
I usually use the holiday downtime to learn a few new things that I normally wouldn't have time for. This year I was playing with OpenPyro, so I can do a 20 min demo on that. If you have any cool, Flash related demo you can show, feel free to let us know.
The location should be the Adobe room as usual, although I'm still waiting on the room booking confirmation. I'll post here as soon as the room is confirmed.
If you need to reach me, my email is zee.yang@gmail.com, and my twitter is @zeeyang
Cheers,
Zee
Hey everyone! My apologies for the staleness of the group as of late. Have been trying to find somone to take over the group due to the fact that I took a job in Toronto. Good news is, we found one!
Most of you have heard of him, and have most likely met him, as he is an active member in the Ottawa community. Zee Yang will be taking over immediately and is looking to get an event organised in the early new year.
Please join me in welcoming him. For me this only farewell, not good bye. I lived in Ottawa for over 15 years and out of everything, the developer community is one of the things I will miss the most. You can be I'll be out at the meetings when I'm back in town visiting.
Take care,
Tristan
Hey guys. I've just moved here from British Columbia, and would love to meet some local Flexers. When I lived there I was a part of the FlashInVan meet-up group as well as the SeaFlex (Seattle Flex) users group.
I've noticed that the boards here are fairly stale, so I thought maybe a handful of people could get together on a weekend sometime in the near future. Let me know if you'd be interested and we can try to set something up.
Personally I'm still interested in meetings. I would like to meet all you guys and discuss some new stuff. Who support me please reply to this thread and lets do our next meeting :)

Reply to this post and let everyone know your twitter name so we can all follow each other... sounds scary but we are all friends right? :)
I asked Tristan to present at the next meet, and for that I would like that the members of the group decide what they want to hear.
Here are the possible topics:
Please post your preference.
How about we start a thread so that everyone can chime in with what they think would be good topics of discussion at the next meet.
Please list the topic and why do you think it should be talked about.
I'll start the ball with a few:
Developer Tools - Why are there so few tools to make development easier, like round trip engineering, proper UML and design tools, and better testing frameworks.
Favorite IDEs - Which IDE do you use? why? what are the pros/cons and what could be improved?
Interesting Flex Open Source Projects - Which ones interests you and why would you help?
Thought I'd start a quick thread and get everyone's feedback on Flash Camp.
What did you think of it?
If you went to the first Flex Camp, how did it compare to that one?
Did it reflect what you asked for?
What presentations did you like/dislike and why?
You get the idea.

We made a big change to the Adobe Groups homepage today. Now, when you log in, you'll see a list of all groups that you have joined right there on the page.
No more bookmarking groups or having to go to your profile page to see the full list!
