As many of you already know, the Los Angeles Flash User Group is planning their 3rd LAFlashapaloozastock on Saturday, December 6th at the AlmerBlank studios in Venice. If you're unfamiliar with LAFlashapaloozastock, it's a free all-day event that features some of the top Flash developers in the world doing presentations on how to best use the features in the Flash skillset. But it's a lot more than that. It's like a one-day party for Flash users. There's a free continental networking breakfast in the morning, a dinner at night and then live music and dancing into the weehours and all sorts of craziness happens (The all-night frisbee blowout of 2005 is still a classic). It's a mini-trade show with exhibitors showcasing Flash tools, agencies signing up people looking for work and much more.
And we'll be there too! LAdobe will have a booth at the show as we look for new members to sign up and give away books to new signups at the show via hourly drawings. We also want our current members to have a presence at the show so we plan member showcases where each hour, we'll have an LAdobe member take over the booth and showcasing their designs to all the attendees and making all sorts of new contacts. This will allow you to have a spot where you can get noticed and not have to 'work the floor' hoping someone will approach you. Now you'll have a spot to get all the attention you deserve!
So if you're interesting in participating, please email me immediately with your contact information and I'll work a spot for you in the program. We will only have a limited number of slots available so it's important you get your name on the list for one of the available hours. You do not have to display Flash work at the table. You can showcase any of your work that you desire. Just bring your laptop and/or a regular portfolio of your best work and good luck!
Whether you plan to showcase your work at our table, or just attend the event in general, we look forward to seeing you at LAFlashapaloozastock '08!
For those of you hitting this page for the first time, I'd like to introduce you to Los Angeles and Southern California's home for anything and everything Adobe. I'm Adam Bell and I started this group in May 2006 to provide a much needed resource for the Creative Community that is Southern California. My Co-Manager is Michele Weisbart of the Fashion Institute of Design and Merchandising as well as a freelance artist in her own right. LAdobe has meetings once a month with the exception being the holiday period of November/December where we tie in that meeting into one big nighttime event. Our current homebase for our meetings in the Art Institute California-Hollywood where we meet on the fourth Thursday of each month (but please note the December 4th date for our next meeting) at 7pm. Our topics run the gamut of the Adobe spectrum. Mainly Photoshop but also Dreamweaver, Fireworks, Illustator, ColdFusion, InDesign, Lightroom and many more Adobe applications and plugins. Past speakers have included noted authors Colin Smith , Stephen Burns, Adobe experts like Alan Musselman, John Schuman and Rick Miller among others. We also do prize giveaways at each meeting and in the past we've given away everything from cheap (and not so cheap) Adobe swag, books from major publishers including Peachpit, Friends of Ed, Apress, O'Reilly, Focal Press, CoursePTR, Wiley. Sams Publishing and many more. We've also given away Digital Picture Frames, Flash Memory Drives, Wacom Tablets and of course, Adobe Software including Creative Suite. We also have plenty of opportunities for social networking, post show gatherings and many more events for our community.
Basically, if it's Adobe and it's Los Angeles....it's here.
We made a big change to the Adobe Groups homepage today. Now, when you log in, you'll see a list of all groups that you have joined right there on the page.
