Did you know that you can invoke a LiveCycle ES service directly from a client application built with Flex? That is right - you can develop a client application, such as an AIR application, and perform LiveCycle ES operations. For example, you can protect a PDF document by developing the client application to invoke LiveCycle ES and encrypt the PDF document. For complete details, check out the Encrypting PDF documents using Remoting article.
What is LiveCycle ES? Really!
According to the Adobe Evangelist Team and as posted on Tour de LiveCycle:
"What is LiveCycle ES? That's not an easy question to answer! The challenge is that LiveCycle ES is not a typical product with a typical list of features. It's an extensible platform that offers a wide array of services, each with its own set of capabilities. In addition, LiveCycle ES provides the infrastructure to manage and deploy these services as well as the ability to combine them into a business process where they can be integrated with other technologies as well as with people."
But what does that really mean? The understanding gap between the technical platform features of LiveCycle ES and its business applications and implications is what makes the answer to the question "What is LiveCycle ES"? not an easy one to answer!
In this post we encourage all members to share their thoughts on what LiveCycle ES actually is (and does) to and for an enterprise (business user, middle-management team and CXO level stakeholders).
The best definition in terms of clarity, simplicity, accuracy and flair will recieve a 16GB iPod touch as a gift from AJ Management Conulting! The best answer will be picked by a small consulting pannel from AJ and will be shared with the a group of the Adobe Evangelist Team for recommendations and confirmation. This post will close in 4 weeks.
