All JavaScript, All Day -- Presented by Jupiter IT

Join us for an informal day centered around jQuery, the popular JavaScript library, and the JavaScript language itself. We'll do things in the barcamp style, making a list of topics/presentations at the beginning of the day and seeing where things go from there. If you have something to share, whether it's simple or fancy, we want to hear about it — talks can range anywhere from 5 minutes to an hour.

    Featured speakers will include:

    Post-Camp Hack Night

Viget Labs will be hosting a special Triangle JavaScript Meetup on Jan. 30 following the NC jQuery & JavaScript Camp. Join Peter HigginsScott González, and Rebecca Murphey for a night of JavaScript hacking, food, and merriment. Bring in your projects to bounce off each other and some true JavaScript Ninjas! Don't have a project? This is a good chance to start something new or help someone else with their project. We'll have food and drinks, too.

Viget Labs (map) is located in downtown Durham, just a few blocks from the Durham Arts Council. Parking can be found on-street and in several parking decks including the deck across the street at 326 East Chapel Hill Street, the Corcoran Street deck (101 East Corcoran Street) between Viget and the Durham Arts Council, and the West Morgan Street ramp (300 West Morgan St).

What prompted the development of ColdFusion?

Back in 1994, I had started a web development consultancy, and was very focused on how the Web could be used for building interactive, community and media based online services. I thought that the Web was an application platform and that you could build open and freely available online services using an open technology such as the Web. I had a lot of ideas for how to build online services, but I was not an engineer and found the existing technologies (Perl/CGI) to be really terrible and difficult. At the same time, my brother was becoming a more sophisticated software engineer, and also became interested in the Web, and he ended up designing the first version of ColdFusion based on the key requirements I had for an online service I was building.
