CDigCon: Video, With or Without a Budget
Speakers
This month we're priviledged to have both David Ball and Ted Coffmann speaking to us on Video production.
Our Sponsor: TeamBuilder Search
TeamBuilder Search is a niche recruiting firm focused on interactive marketing and web development placements for both full-time and contract positions. TeamBuilder Search is locally owned and is staffed by interactive professionals who enjoy helping other interactive professionals grow their careers.
Green Screening on a Budget, 6:15PM - 7:05PM
Ted Coffmann will be starting off the presentation with a demonstration of the ins and outs of green screen video production, including (but not restricted to) his very own portable rig, how to manipulate captured video in Premiere, and participation of lucky (?) members of the audience.
Ted describes himself as a 'budget' video producer, meaning that most of his equipment is reasonably affordable. If you're interested in how to pull off professional looking results on affordable equipment, he'll be available both during the presentation and in the break to answer any of your questions.
SpaceJunk Media, Process through Completion, 7:15PM - Finish
Our second presenter will be David Ball from SpaceJunk Media, and he will be walking us through a full video project breakdown: Concept, Storyboard, Test Renders, Finishing, the Kitchen Sink. SpaceJunk has done work for the Columbus Crew, VSX, Honda and plenty of other local companies, and their work is second to none. No, really, I mean it- go look at their demo reel.
It's a rare opportunity to see how professional video is actually produced, including all the bells and whistles that come with it. We're not talking about a camera pointing at a reporter- SpaceJunk means business, and for anyone interested in furthering their understanding of video... well, chances are David's the guy you want to talk to.
David is a graduate of the Columbus College of Art and Design with a BA in Time Based Media. He was hired in June of 2000 by Mike Blosel of MJB Creative doing a variety of tasking including gripping, shooting, video editing and graphics. In 2004, Mike Blosel partnered with Robb Dierken to form a new company, Spacejunk Media. David joined Spacejunk immediately as it's first employee, over time making a transition to doing motion graphics on a full time basis.
In 2002, David partnered with Todd Russell to produce/direct an ultra low budget feature length film, called "The Significance of Tad Barlow" utilizing borrowed equipment from MJB/Spacejunk. Barlow was completed in the fall of 2008 where it premiered at the Cow Town Film Festival. This summer David plans to partner with Todd Russell again to direct a short called "three-six-four".
