For he first meeting of the year for Adobe User Group Premier and Post  we will be having demonstrations about particular aspects of Adobe Premiere Pro CS4:

• Using sound compression
• Nesting
• Blend function

We will also be looking at the  amazing playback and rendering engine for Adobe Premiere Pro, called the Mercury Playback Engine.

What are Adobe groups?

These are monthly meetings of professional users of Adobe software. The aim is to provide a self help environment and to get up to date information from Adobe. Often outside experts in their field are invited to speak at the meetings. They are not for total beginners nor are they any substitute for training. The groups are free to attend. Adobe supports these groups.

Those using Premiere, After Effects and other Adobe post production software in a professional capacity.

Adobe Premiere & Post Group

Meeting 1.  12^th November 2009.

We held the first meeting of the Adobe Premiere & Post group on Wednesday 12^th November.

Given that it was pouring with rain and howling a gale it was a pleasant surprise to see that we had six people in attendance.

As this was the first meeting we used it as a chance to introduce the group, let them know what our ideas were and to listen to what the members were looking to get from the group.

We put forward what we thought the group would be about, these included:

• To build a group of professionals using Adobe Premiere and related products.
• To develop a greater understanding of Adobe CS4 production bundle, with particular attention to post production (After Effects, Soundbooth, Encore)
• Networking and social opportunities, a chance to share and gain experience with likeminded practitioners.
• Keeping up to date with the latest Adobe software developments and applications.
• To have practical demonstrations from Adobe evangelists and other leaders in the field.

We used the time to discuss our proposals and hear what the members were doing with Adobe products.

Most of the group were involved in production, working in corporate, community and pop promo with one having a background in community arts and filmmaking.

All of them agreed with the benefit of having the group and came up with suggested activities, some of which tallied with our ideas and some new ideas, these were:

• Sharing skills and product knowledge
• Understanding workflows especially when using solid state cards to shoot on.
• Better understanding of the intergration of CS4 Production bundle.
• Speakers (Adobe specialists and professional users from other fields e.g. BBC)
• Demonstrations e.g. colour grading, sound sweetning
• Members screening and discussing their own work, projects and soloutions.

The next meeting is scheduled for Thursday 21^st January 2010, 7 - 9pm at OFVM Film Oxford, 54 Catherine Street, Oxford, Ox4 3AH.

We will email and publicise the event through the usual channels.
