How stable is OSMF right now?

Hi,

I'm a Lead Developer for an interactive agency and have been following the OSMF Development for a while now. I'm curious how stable the API is and whether or not I can start building or own tools around the OSMF framework, and if it would cause me headaches to adopt the framework now, or if I should wait for a stable release?

I read somewhere that the OSMF team was hoping to have a beta version with a pretty solid API by the start of February, but it seems the project is still in alpha sprints... is that right? How likely is it that the API will change moving forward? If the API is solid I'd like to give it a shot. Let me know, thanks!
