In the beginning he explained why the new version of Flash Player is actually 10.1. There were not many changes in the Flash Player API itself. A major effort was made to optimize the player for mobile devices and personal computers.

Thus, Flash Player for mobile devices now supports a touch screen, almost all mobile operating systems, an accelerometer, and GPS. Also, they added the function of managing the priority for paying swf files.

In its turn, Flash Player for personal computers supports native graphics accelerators and provides optimized RAM usage, byte code level microphone usage, the possibility of global error capturing, and easier work with the globalization and conversion of date and currency formats.

The first mobile devices on board with Flash Player 10.1 will be those based on the Android operating system. They will also support AIR 2.0. Developers and designers can create standalone applications for these devices and publish them on Android Market.

The topic of Flex Mobile Framework was highlighted as well. This is an optimized version of Flex 4 Framework, which makes it easier for developers to create Flex applications running on mobile devices.

At the end of the first part of his demonstration, Piotr spoke about AIR 2.0. This technology will support everything which Flash Player 10.1 can do, as well as the possibility to run external applications, enhanced work with sockets, support of HTML5 and much more.

In the second part of the speech, Piotr showcased how AIR 2.0 works with sockets and external applications in terms of a chat and created a simple Flash application for iPhone.
