Adobe just launched a revamped Adobe Groups site -- written entirely in ColdFusion by Ray Camden himself! Ray has started detailing some of the work he did (with CF9's ORM, caching, virtual file system, and more), and it will be interesting to see the lessons he learned in such a high-profile project.
In the meantime, though, you'll need to re-upload any avatar you had originally added to the Adobe Groups site. A lot of the custom content wasn't carried over from the old site, and that included user avatars. Sorry!
