Title
A Beginner's Tip On Working With Handles

Entry

When working with "paint" (Raster) programs, it's easy to simply grab a brush and drag it across the canvas, to create a stroke. When working with "draw" (Vector) graphics (also referred to as "object-oriented" graphics), it can be difficult to understand some of the tools -- especially the Bezier (or "Pen") tool. With this tool, you don't simply "drag" around the canvas to create a shape. Instead, you have to click or click and slightly drag, in order to create one segment of a shape.

Look at my example drawing. Download it, to view it in a larger size and then experiment with Fireworks' "Pen Tool". With a little practice, you'll have a better understanding of how this tool works and by understanding this function, you'll be on your way to successfully create those shapes which are in your mind's eye.
