In April we are going to have a very excting meeting featuring one of our members MICHAEL POWE.

Michael is an artist, designer, educator. We are so happy that he is willing to share his work with us and open his ideas to our members.

Born 1951, Detroit, Michigan, USA, lived and formally educated in Michigan. Studied at Cranbrook Academy of Art, Bloomfield Hills, MI with Connor Everts, graduated with a Masters of Fine Art (M.F.A.) degree, '78 and Wayne State University, Detroit, MI graduated with a Bachelor of Fine Arts (B.F.A.) '73 and a Masters of Art in Art (M.A.) degrees '76. Teaches at Marymount College, Palos Verdes, CA. Taught at University of South Dakota, Vermillion, SD, North Dakota State University, Fargo, ND, El Camino College, Torrance, CA and Pasadena City College, Pasadena, CA.
  

About The Artwork

This series of artwork was started on October 9, 2007. Since that time the series has evolved into three different series: the Currency series is 30 x 22 inches; the Manhole Cover series 44 x 30 inches; the Stamp Block series 50 x 36 inches.

 

The pieces of the artwork have been created on a Apple Macintosh computer using Adobe PhotoShop printed on 100% rag paper with UV inks on an Encad wide format printer. The images have not been editioned.

In addition to his Artwork Michael is a graphic designer, and an educator.
