I had a client ask me a good question about writing a .pdf. She was was on a PC and having trouble creating the file out of Word. The PDF Writer wasn't working for some reason. So, over the phone I asked her if she tried to write it with the Print command. She didn't realize that was an option, she used the .pdf driver in the print dialog and she had her file.
That prompted me to write a blog post with some tips about writing .pdfs. You can read it here. I hope this helps. Where there is a will, there is a way!
