Inside Adobe Illustrator Blog

<p>Hi,</p> <p>My name is Mike Hortens. I am a digital artist working outside of New York. I will be teaching a six week beginner's course in Adobe Illustrator at a community center near where I live. I have gone to a few training sights to see how they organize their teaching and I have two questions. First, since I am probably dealing with a non-professional crowd, I wondered if anyone could suggest other uses for Illustrator besides logo design, maps and web page design?</p> <p>I belong to a small boat club and have used Illustrator to make maps of the boat mooring field, the boat club sign and information signs located around the club. I also thought of showing how family crests, T-shirt designs, greeting cards and flyers could be redrawn in illustrator. Does anyone have any other applications they could suggest?</p> <p>Secondly, my plan is to show the difference between rastor and vector artwork, then explain what the tools do and how they are used. As the weeks go by, we would create Illustrator documents, then find different applications for the software i.e. T-shirt design, greeting cards etc. Regarding teaching, has anyone encountered problems or issues that either hurt or helped students' understanding of the program?</p> <p>If anyone has a moment, I would appreciate your feedback, Yours truly, Mike Hortens</p>
