Call for Speakers and Topics 1

I'd like to open a discussion on what topics folks would like to see presented at the group. Currently  have a few myself, but post yours here too! I'll create a new post with my ideas.

Alternately, if you would like to present any of these topics, or an idea of your own, let us know!

Even if you feel you do not have the experience with the topic, it's a great way to learn. I know myself and other presenters often give presentations on topics we know little about to simply learn more and promote conversation on the topic so we can gather the experience of others. Myself, and I am certain others, will be happy to help you with your presentation!

Name Change - NorCal Flash Platform User Group

Okay, so NorCalFlex was much cooler, I know! However, the proposed name changes offers us more flexibility. I don;t expect everyone to be on board with the change, but here are my thoughts:

First of all, this change is in line with Adobe's branding.

Secondly, this change ofers us more diversity. in addition to Flex we will also offer topics on Flash Catalyst, Flash Professional, Flash Lite and other technologies involved in the Flash Platform or that compliment it.

As a full time developer using the Flex SDK I find myself more and more desiring to, learn other Flash technologies. I also want to get experience from Flash Designers and see their workflow.

We also have a void in the Northern California area, there is no Flash UG.

It also provides interesting networking opportunities!

So, before the actual name change, I wanted to open this up for discussion to the group and get your thoughts and ideas.

Oh, I also wanted to mention I am working on getting us a permanent meeting location again. I will fill you in soon, but if you are aware of any potential meeting spots now would be the time to mention it.

Scott Stroz will be presenting on Printing in Flex and Joe Gerard will be presenting on Flash Animations. The meeting will start at 6:30PM promptly, as Scott Stroz will be joining us via Connect, in Easter time.
