Sep 2, 2009 CFUG meeting
Event posted on Oct 06 by tccfug

Title: Sep 2, 2009 CFUG meeting
Speakers:

1) Jason Dean - Hands-on Building an Adobe AIR application with HTML, JavaScript, jQuery and SQLite
Adobe AIR gives web developers the power and flexibility to develop desktop applications using the technologies that they already know. We will build a simple AIR application (using HTML, JavaScript, jQuery and SQLite) and lay the groundwork for building more advanced applications.

This is a hands-on session. You are not required to participate. You will still get something out of watching the process. But if you want to participate, you will need to bring a laptop computer with the following already installed:

* Aptana Studio http://aptana.com/studio
* The Adobe AIR plugin for Aptana Studio http://aptana.com/air
* CFEclipse installed into Aptana Studio http://cfeclipse.org/download.cfm

You can test your Aptana/AIR installation by following the guide here:

1) Kurt Wiersma - Javascript Frameworks Deathmatch (CFObjective preview)
JQuery v. Prototype v. EXT-JS v. Spry

Ding Ding! Come see a boxing match between the heavweights of the
javascript framework world. Who wants to deal with javascript without
a library to help you out? Have you ever wondered what the pros and
cons are of each library? Come to this session to see strengths and
weakness of each of these libraries.

2) Jason Dean - ColdFusion Application Security: The Next Step (CFObjective preview)

We've all parameterized our SQL queries to prevent SQL injection attacks, right? So what's next? Are our applications safe now? No, they are not. SQL injection is only the tip of the vulnerability iceberg. There are many other security topics that need to be addressed in our applications. Threats and vulnerabilities are everywhere, and it is likely that your applications contain some of them. In this presentation we will discuss what threatens web applications and how to create countermeasures to address these vulnerabilities.

CFObjective() Conference - HYATT REGENCY Minneapolis
Event posted on Jan 21 by tccfug

Title: CFObjective() Conference - HYATT REGENCY Minneapolis
Agenda:

In 2009, we will be offering four tracks, based on feedback from attendees:

  • Architecture and Design in Software
Just like a sturdy building relies on planning, proven concepts and a solid foundation, the best ColdFusion applications rely on solid architecture to ensure a stable, maintainable product. The Architecture and Design in Software track brings together some of the greatest Software Architects who will provide the foundation for robust applications.
  • RIA: Flex/Ajax/AIR
Rich Internet Applications (RIA) are not just a buzzword anymore. They are an integral part of many organization's business model, both on the web as well as the desktop. If you are new to RIAs or a seasoned pro, this track will provide you with you invaluable information on creating rich experiences for your user base via Adobe Flex, Adobe AIR and Ajax.
  • Process and Methodology
At the core of any successful project are two commonly overlooked factors: Process and Methodology. Learn to effectively plan and implement your development efforts on projects large and small with sessions targeting development methodologies, environment planning and Framework implementation.
  • Integration and Tools
Most ColdFusion applications are not an island unto themselves. Robust applications need to interact with databases, web services and external programs. As well as learning to consume data from various sources and extend ColdFusion via other languages, the Integration and Tools track will also give you an inside look at the IDEs and projects that help you build extensible, maintainable applications.
