CF Developer Telecommute Position in SC
Job Opportunity posted on Aug 31 by greglunn , tagged Contract, coldfusion,North America

Employer Contact: Dan O'Brien, ICAP Recruiter
Job Description:

The primary job duty is to work with client personnel to rework existing systems to a new operating environment. The existing systems utilize ColdFusion with Microsoft Access and Cobol and Focus on OpenVMS. The target environment is ColdFusion with Oracle 10g, providing integration with SunGard Banner 8.

The Client is in the process of migrating its student systems from SunGard Plus to Sungard Banner. This migration necessitates the reworking of numerous ancillary applications supporting the administration of the students so that they will more readily integrate with the Banner system. Some of these applications are written in Coldfusion and use Microsoft Access as the back-end database. Students’ academic and bio/demo information is passed to the ancillary applications through batch file interfaces. The goal is to rewrite these applications to use Oracle as the back-end database and to eliminate the need for batch feeds by accessing the appropriate data elements directly from the Banner tables stored in Oracle. Student and administrative access to these applications will be regulated by means of single sign-on through the Luminis Portal.

Other ancillary applications are written in FOCUS, with data residing in FOCUS tables. Again, this data needs to be moved to the Oracle platform and the FOCUS routines rewritten in Coldfusion or SQL, as appropriate.

The contracted analyst will work in conjunction with the analyst currently responsible for these applications. Once the contractor is sufficiently familiar with the structure and operation of the existing applications and design goals of the new applications, he or she will be expected to work Telecommute / independently, but conferring with Client personnel as necessary.
