Designer Bio:
Andrew Byrom is a British-born graphic designer based in Los Angeles.
His current work explores the conventions of typographic design in three dimensions, using unfamiliar applications, materials and processes to define new forms. Although his work adheres closely to typographic principles (uniformed x-height, structure etc.), it also addresses more architectural considerations including physical strength and structural integrity.
This development has led to a natural foray into the field of environmental graphic design, where he has begun collaborating on projects for the built environment.
Byrom’s clients have included The New York Times Magazine, Penguin Books, Sagmeister Inc., AIGA Los Angeles, A+D Museum, and UCLA Extension. His work has been exhibited in design venues across the United States, Europe and Asia, and has been honored by The Type Directors Club and the AIGA.
Andrew Byrom is also a tenured Professor, teaching typography and graphic design history, at California State University Long Beach.
