Teaching at the university level for over 20 years in the fields of fine art, life drawing, oil and acrylic on canvas, and papermaking, at Parsons College in NYC and at UCLA, Chana turned her attention to advanced computer graphics and digital imaging, for which she has now been teaching some 15 years at UCLA, Otis College of Art & Design, California State University, and Santa Monica College.Chana is the lead instructor for the UCLA Visual Arts Department, conducting specialized seminars on top of ongoing courses. Similarly, she is the lead instructor for Walt Disney Imagineering, Walt Disney Consumer Products and Walt Disney AnimationChana is an Adobe Certified Expert, and provides specialized training in Adobe Photoshop & Photoshop Lightroom, Adobe Elements, Adobe Illustrator, Adobe InDesign and Adobe Acrobat, as well as Corel Painter, Microsoft Power Point, and Apple Keynote.Chana is part of the Adobe Professional Freelance Team, Adobe Partners, Adobe Community Professional and an Adobe User Group Manager. Chris Converse is a graphic designer and multimedia developer specializing in web design and development, interactive media, print, motion graphics, and CD-ROMs. Converse is co-founder of Codify Design Studio (codifydesign.com), which specializes in both graphic design and the technologies that make the design happen across media. Codify standardizes on many Adobe technologies, from developing rich-media PDF files that leverage dynamic Flash applications, to Ajax-based web solutions built on Adobe's Spry framework.

Kinematic Typography: how to get your hands dirty with typography and evoke emotions from print to motion.

Milka will showcase a series of very exciting and dynamic hands-on experimentation done with type "out side the box". She will present works by her and her students exploring and discovering innovative design strategies and various methodologies to conceive of new findings. The experimental work evokes gripping emotions which are then revealed through the dynamism of motion to visually tell us its compelling story.

Speaker Bio:

Visual communication designer & educator born in Iran and raised in California. 
M.F.A.: Art Center College of Design 
Thesis: "Kinematic Typography: essence in motion", experimental typography in motion capturing the essence of a film through type & its movement in print, short videos & digital animation pieces. Researched the effect of typography on screen as opposed to typography on the printed page.
