Introduction to robotlegs 2

Robotlegs is a pure AS3 micro-architecture (framework) with a light footprint and limited scope. Simply  put, Robotlegs is there to help you wire your objects together. It provides the glue that your application needs to easily function in a decoupled way.

Through the use of automated metadata based dependency injection Robotlegs removes boilerplate code in an application. By promoting loose coupling and avoiding the use of Singletons and statics in the framework Robotlegs can help you write code that is highly testable.

RobotLegs is a pure AS3 microarchitecture so it can be used in non-Flex projects as well.

In this presentation we will learn you how to set up a Pure AS 3 application from the ground up using RobotLegs. This meeting will be a great introduction to using the robotlegs framework, a live step by step for people just starting out. In an hour you will learn how to set up the framework and create a working project. At the end you will be asking yourself how you ever coded with robotlegs! I hope to see you all here at the University of Hawaii or on-line.

     Rafiq Elmansy is a graphic designer and runs his own design studio Pixel Consultations. 
     Rafiq is also an Adobe Community Professional, Certified Expert and Adobe user group manager.

     Rafiq is a Friend of Icograda (the International Council of Graphic Design Associations).Read his latest book Photoshop 3D for Animator.

PureMVC for Flash & Flex

Are next meeting will be An Introduction to PureMVC for the FlashPlatform.

MVC (Model View Controller), is a programming design pattern that is used across many programming languages. PureMVC is a lightweight framework that allows developers to stick more to this proven concept and gives teams of developers a base line to all follow when they are working on a large project.

Through this presentation Steven will be walking you through a step by step example of building an actual working application so that you can see how easy and useful this framework and design pattern actually is.

Goals of PureMVC:

• To separate your application's coding concerns into three discrete tiers: model (data), view (UI), and controller (business logic)
• To balance speedy implementation with scalability and maintainability
• To hide complexity from developers for day-to-day tasks

Also, after the introduction to PureMVC are completed there will be a collaboration oppurtunity in which we will all have a chance to work together to build an Application using the PureMVC framwork for Flash. I am hoping that after the meeting will see the benefits of using this framework, and how easy it is to build an application from the ground up.

There will also be pizza, and refreshments, and Adobe swag do give away. I don't drink, but feel free to bring beer.

Completely new SDK management and project setup makes it simple to switch Flex SDKs, or change the project type easily.

New Profiler will help you find memory leaks more quickly and optimize the performance of your Flash/Flex projects.

Project Templates

Choose from a list of available project templates in the “New Project Wizard” or easily create your own using a simple XML format.

Launcher Chain

Chain multiple launch configurations in any desired order to setup complex build processes fast and easy and adapt FDT to your project team workflow.

Additional Flex Support

Flex support was improved dramatically, it includes FXG, Flex 4 States and the new MXML 2009 language tags now. Also added Flex 4 support for the Debugger, Organize Imports, Quickfixes, Formatter and Toggle Comment in MXML.

Dependency Visualizer

View the dependencies between Classes and Interfaces or between packages visually to detect design or dependency problems at a glance.

Font Library Creator

Create font library SWF, Actionscript or SWC files with just a few clicks by using the new Font Library Editor.

Advanced Formatter

More options in the AS3/MXML Formatter settings to configure your preferred code style or follow your team code guidelines.

Faster Compiler

Full and incremental build times have decreased tremendously while memory consumption was dramatically reduced, this is especially noticeable in bigger projects with multiple modules.

Creative Suite CS 5 & The Flash Platform

This month's meeting at the Hawaii Flash User Group will be on the new features in Creative Suite CS and it will focus on using flash & the flash platform.

We’ll go through many of the new  features  that Crative Suite CS 5 has to offer including Photoshop & 3D Photoshop, Illustrator,Fireworks, Flash, After Effects and many of the other applications in the new Creative Suite CS 5. There will also be demos, and lots of free giveaways from Adobe, including free software give aways valued at $2,100)

Come learn what's new in Creative Suite CS 5 with an emphasis on the Flash Platform.

There have been other meetings about the new features in Creative Suite CS 5, but this one will be a little different, as it is focused on the flash platform. You will see on Creative Suite has been build with the flash platform in Mind

• He is head of his own company GNStudio, which has been operating in the web development field for the past 9 years.

• Flash Lite and Symbian C++, most recently he is focusing on Android development.

Dynamic Programming is a powerful technique that allows one to solve many different types of problems in time for which a naive approach would take exponential time, it is also a method for efficiently solving a broad range of search and optimization problems.

During this session we will look into theory and practical samples like: fibonacci’s optimization, longest common subsequence (LCS) problem, speech recognition, etc.

IK bones is one of the most important new feature in the last couple of versions in Flash. The new feature allows Flash animators to create linked bones structure similar to other animation products. The new feature makes it easy to build linked animation skeleton. This session digs deeper in the IK bones feature and its options and how to use it to create character animation
