Dreamweaver CS4: Building a Better Web (DAUG Meetup #1)
Event posted on Mar 20 by Matt_Would

Title: Dreamweaver CS4: Building a Better Web (DAUG Meetup #1)
Speakers:

Matthew Would

Agenda:

Join this presentation on the huge developments in Dreamweaver CS4, which have elevated it once again to a must-have integrated tool for Web design and Development.

Once upon a time, everyone used Dreamweaver. Then, when dynamic sites began to reign supreme, the developers jumped ship. Now, Designers and Developers alike are returning to Dreamweaver as word spreads that it can really accelerate the design and compliant coding workflow.

The event is at Keyline Graphics in Morningside, Durban. The Google maps link, above, doesn't work well. Click here instead: Map

We will discuss Dreamweaver CS4 features such the CSS best practices, related files toolbar, code navigator, and topics including standards-compliance, accessibility and usability.

As this is the first Durban AUG, we'll also be discussing the direction of future meetings, so make sure you come along if you're free to be a part of the birth of something great!

Matt is an Adobe Certified Expert, training consultant and print, web & 3D freelancer. He works with and trains the whole Adobe CS4 suite, but has a soft spot for the Flash Platform.

Part of the reason there's been such a gap between meets has been the launch of CS5. Well, at last it's out and you can download your very own demo over here http://www.adobe.com/downloads/ There are various events arround SA happening in conjunction with the launch, including Durban's at Gateway. Come and find out all about them and try CS5 at DAUG first..

Brad Roodt has kindly offered to speak at our May meet, so I can't wait to see what this very talented Flash Design, Development & Animation wrangler has to show on the evening.

As always, if you have been working on some sweet new project at work or in your free time that you'd like to 'show the class', please do stand up and let me know!

In the meantime, spread the word af the DAUG and see you Thursday

Don't forget we'll be placing all attendees into a raffle for Adobe software package of their choice. This will be given away before July, so make sure you join the group and let me know you'd like to attend!

Well that sums it up, but here's the long version. Come and join us this Thursday 5th August for a free talk and demo at the next Durban Adobe User Group (daug). It will be at Yossi's Cafe, from 6:00pm - 8:00pm approx. RSVP is a must so I can see numbers.

What?

Our fantastic two-talk line-up this time is as follows:

Game Creation in Flixel - Kyle-Ben Snyders

Kyle-Ben Snyders, a Flash Games developer and previous student at Keyline, will demo Flixel, a way to make game creation for the Flash Player quicker and cooler. Flixel is completely free. What are you waiting for? It’s time to make games!

Check out some of Kyle-Ben's fantastic work with KO software here: http://www.kosoftgo.com I highly recommend playing 'Vowels in your Bowels' over your lunch break...

Short Film-Making - Michael Cross

Our first filmaking demo/talk! Michael Cross has a treasure trove of a CV for film-makers, having worked on documentaries, short fims, reality TV, online content, fashion, music videos, corporate videos, and education. He's going to come to talk about finding success in short-fim making, in particular when production criteria are very limiting. Of course we'll be seeing some films themselves.

Where?

This time, you can grab a drink and some chow whilst the event is on! We’ve got a great new location, Yossi's Cafe on Davenport Road.

It's ESSENTIAL THAT YOU RSVP, thank you. You can do this by email or on the Event page on Facebook.
