Title: May meeting in June?!
Date and Time: June 13, 2013 06:30 PM - 08:30 PM (GMT-5 Eastern Time US & Canada)

Address: 5851 Park Boulevard Pinellas Park, FL 33781

Agenda:

Big news from Adobe: The next Version of the Creative Suite software has been announced this week and at this month's meeting, we'll be having a first-look live demonstration of it.

Starting off the evening, we'll complete our three part series on masking in Photoshop with advanced techniques targeted at using the calculations panel and other unconventional methods for obtaining the perfect selection.

After a short break we'll come back and dive right in, taking a look at some of the major new features announced for Photoshop, Illustrator, and InDesign. We're talking touch type, QR codes and more.(Oh my!)

Last but not least, Adobe is making the biggest change to their licensing model in the history of the company. Some are thrilled and some are... not quite as ecstatic. There's been a lot of information, misinformation and controversy on this so we'll be discussing what this all means, how it works and what your options are going forward so that everyone can make an informed decision that best suits their needs.

We'll wrap up the meeting not only with our usual book and swag giveaways but to kick off the big changes to the suite, one lucky winner will be going home with a free year subscription to the new Creative Cloud and everything it has to offer releasing just a few days after our meeting!

I look forward to seeing everyone there. :)

Agenda:

If you can see this message, please note that the May meeting is being postponed to sometime in early June. Due to server issues here on the Adobe site, most of our members have not been receiving communications including notifications about meetings. For that reason, we are postponing the meeting until we can get a communication out to the entire group. As soon as that is sorted out, I will reschedule the meeting.

January Meeting
Event posted on Jan 18 by Eric Segeren

Title: January Meeting
Date and Time: January 31, 2013 06:30 PM - 08:30 AM (GMT-5 Eastern Time US & Canada)

RSVP

Address: 5851 Park Boulevard Pinellas Park, FL 33781
google map
Agenda:

This month we will pick up where we left off both on masking in Photoshop and brushes in Illustrator.

Starting things off we are going to look a little more at how to use art brushes creatively as a way to simplifying drawing and how to save time. We'll then discuss using the other brush types for creative and artistic effects and take a look at how having a tablet (think Wacom – not iPad) can improve this process.

After a mid break, we'll come back and take a closer look at masking in Photoshop. In part two of this three part series we are going to discuss channels – both what they are and how that ties into the process of masking, including how we can often use the existing channels on an image to make a super accurate mask without having to be a selection wizard.

We'll of course, finish off the evening with a few book, DVD, and swag giveaways.

I look forward to seeing everyone there at our first meeting in 2013!

One last thing:

Each meeting you both RSVP at least 24 hours in advance of and attend between now and June will get you an extra entry into the semi-annual software raffle. If you're planning to attend, take a moment to mark the "Yes" or "Maybe" entires on the meeting page and increase your chances of winning.

The Cat's finally out of the bag with CS5  *** Win a FREE copy of CS5 Design Premium Scroll down to see how! ***

We have an awesome meeting scheduled for this month. David Rogers, an Adobe Certified Photoshop Lightroom Expert will be be doing a demo in Adobe Photoshop Lightroom and showing off some of the amazing adjustment and workflow optinos availabile in that software.

Additionally, we'll be taking a look at some of the awesome new features of both Photoshop and Illustrator and how revolutionary they could be to your workflow. Have you seen the online demos of content aware fill and wondered if it really works? Ever been curious about creating 3D in Photoshop? Want to see how easy it is to add design elements to video? How about Illustrator? Want to see how the new variable width stroke and perspective grid can totally change how you work in the program? I'll be demonstrating these and more as time permits!

As usual, we'll have survey prizes in the form of books, DVDs and other cool items. For this meeting we'll also be giving out free training DVDs to the first 25 members in attendance from Adobe's very own Russell Brown. With over two hours of training in his special "edu-tainment" format along with scripts and other goodies, you'll want to be sure to grab one of these!

We'll be there at 6:30 with things getting started around 7.

I look forward to seeing everyone at the meeting. For those who came back in February, the location is the same. For everyone else, complete directions are attached to this post. If anyone has questions about the meeting, feel free to contact me.

Multiple chances to enter to win a copy of Adobe CS5 Design Premium.

Over the next two meetings we are going to be running a contest for a chance to win a fully licensed copy of Creative Suite 5 Design Premium from Adobe (a $1,899.00 value). There are two ways to enter and the rules are simple:

For next week’s meeting, each registered member who RSVPs will get an entry for the drawing. In addition, each registered member who brings a new guest* will get an additional entry for the drawing.

At next month’s meeting, we are going to try for an each-one-teach-one format. Each person brave enough to demonstrate a tip or technique for the group will get five entries.

There will be other prizes, too but since the main one is such a big item, we will be using a numbered ticket system to keep things fair.**

I will be sending out additional details of this month’s meeting in the next couple of days but wanted to send this announcement out separately since it’s kind of a big deal. :)

*A new guest is someone who has never attended one of our user group meetings before. You can get up to two entries this way by bringing two or more new guests.

**You will receive a numbered ticket next week for yourself and each guest (maximum three entries) and five tickets for participation next month for a total of up to eight entries for the drawing. No minimum skill set is required to participate in the each-one-teach-one sessions. Details on the exact requirements will be discussed at next week’s meeting and then posted online after. Member must be present at the time of drawing to claim prize. Otherwise, another ticket will be drawn.

End of the year meeting with a CS6 givaway! 4

Title: End of the year meeting with a CS6 givaway!
Date and Time: December 20, 2012 06:30 PM - 08:30 PM (GMT-5 Eastern Time US & Canada)

RSVP

Address: 5851 Park Boulevard Pinellas Park, FL 33781
google map
Agenda:

We're coming up on the end of the year and I know everyone is busy getting ready for the holidays so for those of you who are willing to make the trip, we have something special - a copy of Creative Suite CS6 Design and Web Premium for one lucky attendee this month! In fact, RSVP at least one day prior to the meeting and get an etra entry for the CS6 givaway!

We're going to start the evening out demonstrating some of the new blur filter options on Photoshop CS6 that allow more accurate than ever photography effects such as the tilt shift look (miniature scene) and shallow depth of field allowing us to take plain snapshots from point-and-shoot cameras or cell phones and make them look like something taken with professional equipment.

We'll also be taking a beginner's look at masking in Photoshop - the technique for making custom selections and one of the keys to unlocking the power of non-destructive editing among many other things.

Our last demonstration of the evening will involve Illustrator. We will be using a combination of art brushes, the stroke width tool, and live effects to quickly create complete artwork ranging from flowery flourishes to character designs with minimal effort. If you've ever been intimidated by the thought of creating original artwork from scratch in Illustrator, I'll show you exactly how you can get started unleashing your creative potential.

We'll close out the night with door-prize drawings which will include shirts, books, and of course, for one lucky winner, a copy of CS6 Design and Web Premium - a $1,900 value!

I look forward to seeing everyone who can make it to this year's final meeting!

!!!UPDATE!!!

So remember how I originally said "if everything goes according to plan"? Well, the plans have been changed on me and I'm afraid that the news I wanted to share with you this week is going to have to be delayed a bit longer. Rather than cancel the meeting, though, I've decided to swap it with the regular meeting we were going to be having towards the end of the month, anyway.

So, for *THIS* Thursday's meeting, we will be looking a bit more in depth at Illustrator's gradient mesh tools and where and why we might choose to use them over the blend tool which can sometimes be used to create similar effects. We'll finish up by taking look at how to use blending modes and adjustment layers to create those retro/ vintage photo effects that are so popular these days. This was scheduled as a shorter meeting and I'm going to attempt to keep us mostly on track for that but I'm extending the meeting by 15 minutes to 8:15 to make sure we have time for the giveaways at the end.

I'm sorry about the last minute change of plans but the decision wasn't mine to make. We should still have a fun meeting this week with cool stuff to try and some great giveaways. That said, if you can only attend one meeting this month, you'll probably want to make it the next one. I'll be sending out a meeting notice about that one between today and tomorrow.

-------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------

Hi everyone!

Originally the next meeting for our group was going to be for this month but instead, there will be two meeting for the month of March. Why the change? Well, if everything goes according to plan, there will be some really exciting things to discuss early next month that simply can't wait till the last Thursday. I can tell you that it will be a Photoshop heavy meeting but unfortunately, I'm unable to give further details just yet (I will update you). You can bet though, there will be some news you won't want to miss!.. And of course, there will be giveaways. :)

Hope to see you all there!
