10/29 NBAUG meeting - Introducing Acrobat XI
Entry posted on Oct 23 by carolyn-illus

Please join us next Monday night for a presentation on the newly released Acrobat XI! The really good news is that Patti Sokol, an Adobe Solutions Consultant, is going to be our guest speaker. As she did last spring for InDesign, Patti will join us from afar in an Adobe Connect room, and will tell us everything we want to know about the newest version of Acrobat. This program just keep on getting better and better! The session will be broadcast in a Connect room, and I will post the URL as we get closer to the event.

Those who attend live will be eligible for nice door prizes from O'Reilly.

20TH Anniversary Party for Photoshop 2
Entry posted on Jan 26 by Cyndi Reese

Note: this event is full and RSVPs are no longer accepted

************

I just received this email from Rachel Luxemburg at Adobe Systems about a special 20th anniversary party for Photoshop in San Francisco. If you decide to RSVP, you must make sure that you attend -- no shows are not OK as this is an important event and there is a lot of interest.

It sounds awfully fun. I hope someone comes back with a poster for me... Cyndi

************

For 20 years, the world has used industry-leading Adobe Photoshop software to transform creative inspiration into nearly everything we see, from magazine covers to medical devices to city skylines. That's why, every day, Adobe is inspired to create the innovative technologies that build more speed, intelligence, and magic into each new Photoshop product-so you can continue to turn your creative vision into reality.

Adobe is kicking off a year-long celebration of Photoshop's 20th anniversary starting with an Adobe and National Association of Photoshop Professionals star-studded celebration, live at the Palace of Fine Arts Theatre in San Francisco, February 18th, 7:30pm.

The evening is hosted by NAPP Founder Scott Kelby and Adobe Senior Vice President and General Manager of the Creative Solutions Business Unit, Johnny Loiacono, with the NAPP Photoshop Guys--Dave Cross and Matt Kloskowski, plus Adobe Photoshop star Russell Brown, and other important members of the Adobe team.

Local Adobe User Groups and ACPs are invited to join as they take the stage for this history-making, fun-filled night packed with amazing Photoshop tricks, incredible tips, and a celebration of the program that changed and shaped popular culture forever. Plus, you will get an exclusive sneak peek at the future of Photoshop.

Everyone attending gets a one-of-a-kind Photoshop 20th anniversary t-shirt and poster commemorating this amazing night of learning and fun. You must pre-register to attend.

If you cannot be there in person, the event will be webcast - more details on that to follow.

3 Things for our New NBAUG website
Entry posted on Apr 22 by Cyndi Reese

Adobe made some changes to our North Bay Adobe User Group website in the last week. They are now using a new system which is built using ColdFusion. In the next few weeks, I'll be customizing it to better fit the needs of our membership. Please read these three important topics.

First of all, we have a new temporary URL that you'll be redirected to if you try to access our old location:

http://groups.adobe.com/group/718

Set your browser bookmark to our new location. Later in May, we'll hopefully have a new permanent custom URL which will be much easier to remember than "718" -- I will notify you when this URL is up and running.

Second, you'll need to re-upload your personal avatar as a NBAUG member. The new system couldn't transport the data over from the old system. What a great goal to have by our next meeting -- to see everyone's avatar. My postage-stamp size avatar is just my smiling face, but I know that some of you can be awfully creative. In fact, I will award an extra raffle ticket to the most creative avatar posted BEFORE May 1st.

Third, speaking of raffle tickets, I have another deal for you. We need to sell our NBAUG pins to help fund our group. [Did you know that SRJC charges us a modest fee for room use?] So, anyone who buys and wears a NBAUG pin at our blowout May 1st CS5 launch party will get an extra raffle ticket for the big Adobe giveaway where we raffle off $2100 worth of Adobe software. I can just guess what the lucky winner will be getting!

Cheers.

Cyndi Reese | NBAUG manager

Creating Animated Titles and Graphics with Photoshop, After Effects and Premiere Pro

Come see how these three programs can be used together to create great visual effects. SRJC instructor Mike Starkey will walk though the workflow of creating assets in Photoshop, After Effects and Premiere Pro. If you've used Photoshop but not After Effects and Premiere Pro, this presentation will show you how to liven up your text and graphics in a whole new way.
