Tuesday 22nd June at Malmaison hotel, Oxford

Join the Oxford Adobe Groups for a social event to learn about the new Adobe® Creative Suite® 5 software.

Adobe CS5 unleashes new ways to generate amazing work, collaborate effectively, and deliver virtually anywhere.

We'll have screen demos of CS5 software at work, presentations, and plenty of time for networking and chat.

There's a free drink for the first 30 and Flash Oxford are presenting their award for the best Flash animation/game entered into their competition.

The Time: 7.30 - 9.30pm
Venue: The Vistors' Room,  Malmaison Hotel, Oxford.
We're delighted that Malmaison have very kindly agreed to allow us to hold this event in their Visitors Room at their Hotel in the centre of Oxford. This is the old prison building. Hop in a getaway car from the station and ask the taxi driver to take you to the prison. Follow these directions, or simply put OX1 1ND into your Global Positioning Hot Hotel Seeking System.

The Visitors Room is not exclusively reserved for the Adobe Groups, so please don't get upset if you have to mingle with the general hoi polloi. They're not infectious.

PHONE APPS FOR FILMMAKERS, ADOBE EDGE AND 3D SPACE IN AFTER EFFECTS

Bumber eveing including:

1) Glenn Clarkson – A short Demo on Adobe Edge

2) Alun Ward will give a quick guide to creating an Android app using Adobe tools, non-Adobe tools, his fingers, and a broken HTC phone. He’ll also take a quick look at Adobe Muse and the Adobe Touch Apps.

3) Dariusz – A review of smartphone’s apps which can make video production easier and a practical presentation of chosen Android and iPhone apps.

4) Richard Roaf – “3D” Motion Graphics in After Effects
Richard Roaf will talk about how to create a motion graphics project with Photoshop and After Effects and use the 3D function and camera function to create the appearance of 3D.

Adventures in Meat Space

‘Meat in Space’ approaches

Next Thursday (June 16th at 7:30 pm) sees the landing of Meat from Space. Well, okay it’s Adventures in Meat Space if you use our original title, or Meat in Space if you like the Muppets.

Neil C Smith will present praxis, his modular framework for live creative play with video, images, audio, and other media. Its primary focus is on the easy development of generative and interactive work for physical spaces, as well as live performance.

Dariusz Dziala VJs and presents some of his collaborative work with dancers.

Plus, mystery guests!

If you are yourself crossing the tricky boundary between real and virtual space, as an experienced programmer, or as a performance artist, dancer, we still have 15 minutes left for you to perform or just test out your work in a friendly environment.

Bring a bottle, a can, a juice or a glass of milk, and settle down to listen and then chat.

As usual, this Adobe user group meeting is held at OFVM Film Oxford, 54 Catherine St, Oxford, OX4 3AH

The Adobe Premiere and Post group will be holding their raffle draw too, for $2,100 worth of Adobe software. Check the OFVM website for full details of how to apply to be in their raffle.

Adobe Groups September meeting postponed until Thursday 30th

Sadly, due to a bereavement, Neil Copeman from the BBC is unable to come and speak to us this Thursday as expected.

Rather than fill in with some short, but great, sessions at the last minute, we decided to postpone the meeting until next Thursday (30th September).

By then, Alun, John and Tim will have returned from Flash on the Beach in Brighton, bubbling with exciting Adobe news, so we'll be able to let you in on anything new we learn there.

We do apologise again for this postponement, and hope you can make it along to OFVM next Thursday, the 30th September for our first autumn session.

The Brothers McLeod, illustrator Greg and writer Myles, will be talking about their latest project, a half hour comedy pilot called The Isle of Spagg. They’ll be telling us how they came up with the idea, how they found the time and money to make it, and what they hope to do with it in the future. The talk will also include an exclusive screening of the finished pilot.
