Entry: Welcome to the official Adobe Groups site for the Sierra Adobe Mulitmedia User Group! This site is an exciting new benefit being provided to us by Adobe. For the time being at least, we are going to maintain both this site and the current group website at www.sierrammug.org. If you are a current member of the group, please take a moment to join on this site. You simply need to log in using your existing Adobe.com account (and it only takes a moment to create a free Adobe.com account if you don't have one), and then click the big "Join This Group" button on the homepage. If you are not currently a member and would like to join us, please feel free to do so. We meet on the first Wednesday of each month, and don't worry if you don't live in Northern California, since we broadcast most of our meetings over the internet and currently have active participants in both Maryland and England. Keywords: welcome, join
Entry: Thanks to all who attended last night. Unfortunately, the recording managed to capture the video, but not the audio. I'm not sure what happened exactly... I'm looking for someone to present in October. Please let me know if you'd like to talk about something to the group. I'm completely open as to the topic; whatever you feel comfortable with is good.

Entry: I'm happy to announce that Adobe is now offering user group members a 15% discount on purchases made in the Adobe store. This applies to any single order (which can contain multiple items) up to $10,000. It applies to full versions of new software such as Creative Suite 5, upgrades, books, and anything else on the site. To redeem the discount, go to http://www.adobe.com/go/cspartners and complete the form. In the "Association" field, type "user group", and in the validation code field, enter 72360. You will receive an email with a code to access the store in such a way as to reflect the discount. Please note: do not enter the name of our group - just enter "user group". Adobe is being very generous in extending this offer to us, and we need to not abuse it so that we will get more deals like this in the future, so please do not share this information with anyone outside of the group.
Entry: This morning, Adobe announced the release of the Flex 4 framework, and along with it the newly-rebranded Flash Builder 4, the IDE for building Flex applications. (It's the new version of the tool formerly known as Flex Builder.) Adobe also announced the release of ColdFusion Builder, a brand-new IDE for developing ColdFusion applications. You can read all about all of these new releases at http://www.adobe.com/flashplatform/. Flash Builder 4 and ColdFusion Builder can be purchased as a bundle for $299 if you currently own Flex Builder 3. Students, teachers and those recently laid-off from work, however, can get them for free (http://www.adobe.com/devnet/flex/free/index.html). 60-day trials of Flash Builder and ColdFusion Builder are available as well. Of course, the Flex platform itself remains open-source and free.
Entry: Peachpit is sponsoring the Voices that Matter conference and is offering a generous discount to user group members. Use coupon code WSUSERG at registration to receive a $150 discount off the current conference pricing. If you register before May 20, this special discount may be combined with the Early Bird price, which gives you an additional $100 off. The conference is being held June 27-28 in San Francisco and features an impressive line-up of speakers. Image:
Entry: Members, A lot has been happening over the last couple of weeks at Adobe, and I wanted to take a moment to share some of the news with you. P.S. My apologies for forgetting to send this to this list in the first place. :) |
