Hellow everybody,

Can anyone tell me on how to get an updated discount code for lynda.com... The one that came into our mailbox was not recognized by lynda.com website and I was told by one of their agent to contact our group. Unfortuantely, I do not know who is in charge with this affair.

Thanks in Advance

August Contest Tutorial - Polaroids 1
Thread posted on Aug 11 by David A Rogers

This is an easy to follow tutorial for the beginners but a useful effect for those more advanced that may have forgotten how to create a base file with an illusion of other images in it.
Pay attention to step 6+7.

have fun!

Photoshop World Expo (Free)
Thread posted on Feb 25 by Eric Segeren

As many of you probably know, Photoshop World is coming to Orlando next month. In this economy, even being semi-local doesn't make it an affordable event for many of us. Even if you can't afford to register and go for the whole thing, you can still sign up for free to attend the PSW Expo on the Friday and/or Saturday of the event (March 25,26).

If you've ever been to a tradeshow convention floor, you have a good idea of what this is like except it's a tradeshow full of awesome. Not only do you have access to show-only specials on software (Adobe, Corel, and others have booths there) but you can also get good show specials on both computer and camera hardware. B&H Photo Video and Midwest Photo will both be there. On top of that, there's free training. They always have between three and four stages in the expo on top of the training Adobe and other's offer directly in their own booth areas and on the two days when the Expo is open to the public, there is stuff going on all day.

Even if you can only come up for the Saturday, it'd be worth your time to get at some great deals and free training. If interested, the link below will take you to the registration page. you won't actually be able to register for the free pass for a couple more weeks and I'll try to remember to mention it again but I wanted to throw this up while I was thinking about it today. :)

Click here to get to the registration page.

Thanks for stopping by. Right now, this little group is just getting its legs but my hope is to help establish a community in this area of colleagues friends who are interested in furthering their own knowledge and that of each other in the tools available from Adobe in the Design Creative Suite.

Right now, I'm getting things in order for our first meeting and am working towards lining up sponsors to provide giveaways and door prizes as incentives for active membership. It is my sincere goal to make this as positive an experience for everyone involved as possible and I think free stuff is a good move in that direction, don't you? :)

If you have any suggestions for things you'd like to see in our meetings or you have an idea for something you might like to show the group, please feel free to discuss it here.

I look forward to seeing you all very soon!

Thanks!

Eric

The August Contest (details and rules) 3
Thread posted on Aug 11 by Eric Segeren

This month instead of a meeting, we're going to try to drum up a little interest in our online presence and get people more involved in doing things. I'm going to be giving two books away and there will be a different way to win each one. First is a copy of Bert Monroy's book, "Digital Painting" The second is Deke McClelland's new book, "Adobe Photoshop CS5 One-On-One" which also comes with exclusive access to 5 hours of online video training.

Every person who starts a new thread here with a link to a unique online tutorial will be entered to win "Digital Painting" which is all about making photo-realistic illustrations/alterations in Photoshop - really cool stuff.

Every person who follows one of the posted tutorials and posts their results will be entered to win "Adobe Photoshop CS5 One-On-One" - a book/online combo that covers all the basics of using Photoshop.

Before posting a tutorial, look at the other posts to make sure that it hasn't already been posted. Try to be clear in the name of your thread that it's a tutorial and give an idea of what kind of tutorial. - that's it for the first book. You don't have to write the tutorial yourself. You don't have to demonstrate it. You just have to find it online somewhere and post a link to it. In fact, you might look here to get started.

For the second book, just find a tutorial that interests you from the ones posted (not one you posted) and follow it. Then post the results.

The deadline for posting the tutorial will be August 25th so you have two weeks. The deadline for completing one of the tutorials is August 31st. Winners will be randomly chosen from eligible entries and prizes will be shipped out the week of September 5th to anywhere in the continental US.

If you have any questions, please feel free to post them in this thread or send me a message.
