The slides that I presented at December's meeting are available here. We will not hold a meeting in January. Look for a survey email from us shortly to try to define what topics we can cover in the coming year. As mentioned, Flash Builder 4.7 was officially released. You can request a free serial number if you own 4.5/4/6 via this form. Creative Cloud subscription members can access the new version via the Adobe Application Manager. Adobe has also released a public preview of Adobe Scout. This was formerly known as Project Monocle, Adobe Scout is a new profiling and optimization tool for Flash Player on desktop and mobile to help you get the best performance possible. For a limited time, Adobe Scout is available as a free preview before commercial release! They also released an Adobe Gaming SDK and Flash C++ compiler. Entry: Thanks to everyone who came out to the December meeting with SDFUG! It was great to hear everyone's thoughts about the recent events. Going forward, SDADUG and SDFUG will be co-hosting meetings and expand beyond the Flash Platform. There will still be a focus on Adobe-based solutions, but look for presentations on jQuery, Appcelerator, Scala, HTML5. As always, if you have a topic you want to talk about, let us know and we are happy to give you the podium! Also, we will try to have a few hands-on sessions. Additionally, we are going to try to socialize up the meetings some. The first part of the meeting will be spent doing general introductions and networking. Hope to see you there and have a happy and safe holidays!

Entry: Adobe's bombshell this week regarding Flash has the whole development community in flux. IMHO, I had a feeling the Flash/Flex was headed towards the legacy app bin but believed that it would be a gradual process as with other legacy technologies. I don't know if there's actually a precendence for what Adobe has done but regardless, it has far reaching impacts on all of us.
