Ready for next meeting...? 15
Entry posted on Sep 25 by Matt Gifford

Title: Ready for next meeting...?
Entry:

Dearest HAUGers, we've had little (no) events over the last few months due to various reasons.

Plans have been slow but sure to move the group into a decent, regular meeting place with tech equipment and facilities to hold presentations / hack evenings / discussions etc. Whilst this is still being finalised, this will also mean extra promotion for the group and an increase in membership numbers.. the more people we can connect with, network with and learn together from, the better (at least that's what I think).

So, before we push to the bigger, better space and more people than we can shake the proverbial stick at, I wanted to get together with everyone to have an informal social meetup. We can use it to restart the group (version 2.0, baby) ask advice and input from each other on what we all want to get out of the group and how we can achieve that together, and to lay out plans for the future.

Although I want us to grow, the core members (you guys) are the foundation of the group. Without your original interest, this group would not be here. It's your group, and I want to make sure that together we build it up to be an amazing resource, a place to learn and experiment with new tech and ideas, and a great place to hang out and get social every once in a while.

So, hands up who is ready for the next round? Let's get this group reanimated and kicking back into action! When do you want to meet? Preferred day of the week? Preferred time of day? Beer? No beer? Choices... over to you!

Hello HAUGers!

Yesterday, Adobe held their first Create The Web event in San Francisco, unveiling a lot of new features, updates and amazing tools to help creative professionals build stunning HTML apps. You can check out the keynote on html.adobe.com (and while you're there, check out the awesome CSS filters and new toys on the site too)

The Create The Web event is coming to London on Tuesday 2nd October. You can register for this free event here: http://createtheweblondon.eventbrite.com/

Following that, on Wednesday 3rd October, there is also a Brackets hackathon - a free event with sessions in the morning outlining the Brackets app and infrastructure, followed by an open hackathon in the afternoon to build custom plugins etc for the code editor. So, if you know HTML, CSS and JS and want to learn how to build awesome plugins for Brackets, head on down to London on Wednesday too: http://bracketshackathon.eventbrite.com/

So much going on in the world of the web. Be a part of it and lead the way :)

And so it begins...

Welcome to the inaugural post from the Hertfordshire Adobe User Group, and thank you for reading!

The group is in the process of being set up and details confirmed, and we're looking to kickstart the new year and enter 2011 with regular meetups and group updates.

Who is this group for? Any developer, designer, creative thinker or anyone with a passion for learning new techniques and technologies.

We are based in St Albans, and aim to host the meetings primarily in the St Albans / Hatfield area, but are open to changing the location on occasion to suit our members.

We'll be finalising the details for when / where we will be meeting up certainly in the first few weeks of January 2011.

Ideally, we want to have your feedback and input on meeting locations. We have a few in mind that need confirmation, but ideas and suggestions are always welcome.

Embracing The Community

Title: Embracing The Community
Entry:

Dear HAUGers.

A lot has changed within the Adobe-sphere and design / development community over the last few months, and HAUG is looking forward to sharing some of these changes with you.

The biggest news and announcements arose during the recent Adobe MAX event in Los Angeles, May 4-8th. The revised, updated and improved Creative Cloud tools were showcased, demoed and given the fanfare they deserve. One big focus has been a clear shift to community collaboration and enhancing your personal workflows with other creative professionals using the Behance service and the Creative Cloud social streams. Once you've seen the new Creative Cloud in action, you'll be amazed at how much it will help you.

Over the new two months we will be holding a number of events, including (just for starters):

  • An introduction to PhoneGap mobile application development
  • The Creative Cloud and me

Stay tuned to the HAUG channel and please dont hesitate to contact myself or other HAUG members using this group site.

I look forward to meeting with you all again soon as we get creative in the cloud.
