Entry: Come learn more about the top features in After Effects and Premiere Pro CS6! RSVP if you're gonna make it.
Entry: Congrats to Josh Hathaway on winning the grand prize giveaway of CS6 Design & Web Premium! And also to Tim Lemons the winner of iExpressions from Aescripts.com! We had a great meetup last night with lots of new faces, all coming to hear me speak I'm sure. Had nothing to do with the $2,100 worth of software that we were giving away. As we mentioned in the last nights meetup we are looking for non-profits to partner with on the next giveaway in December. We are looking for non-profits that currently do some type of video production and would benefit from having a short (5-10 second) motion graphics piece to use, ie. logo intro animation etc. More details, schedule, and rules of the giveaway coming in the next week or so.
Entry: Our video experiment went a little longer than we anticipated at the last meetup. I unfortunately had to really rush through the tut with 3D Extruder and iExpressions. So, if you didn't get to make it last time or you want to learn more on how I made the Kick Drum Heart Animation, here's an in depth tutorial:
Entry: Here is a link to some pics from our last event as we experimented with the bullet time effect. https://www.facebook.com/media/set/?set=a.376764519000214.98835.148210135188988&type=1 Image:
Entry: This coming Tuesday February 21st is our next meetup. I'm very excited to present another way to create 3D text using scripts from Aescripts.com. Here is a little teaser of what I'll be presenting!

Congratulations to Jason Poeffel the winner of Creative Suite CS5.5 Production Premium! (pictured left) His logo bumper was chosen by Skot from Name Brand Clothing (pictured right). I'm really glad that we as a group had a chance to help out a local non-profit. We don't plan on doing every software giveaway like this one, but we will do it again. Thank each of you for your submissions. Keywords: Software giveaway
Entry: After last months meetup, I decided that I might as well create a tutorial for the An Apple a Day sequence that I made to demonstrate the awesome power of ShapeShifter AE. If you've got some free time these coming weeks with the holidays, you should check out a demo version of ShapeShifter AE.
Keywords: ShapeShifter AE, shape shifter, ae, after effects, motion graphics
Entry: We had a great time at the meetup last night. I want to sincerely thank each of you for coming out. If you couldn't make it you really missed a good time of nerdin out over some bad local TV spots and there effectiveness. We also gave away some Adobe swag and ate pizza from Mellow Mushroom. We haven't set the schedule for the next meetup yet, but we plan on keeping it on the 3rd of 4th Tuesday of the month. We've got a few ideas for topics for the next meetup, but would love to hear what you'd like to see in the upcoming events. You can send me a message through the site or comment on this post with ideas. Image:
Entry: Last night we announced the Adobe Software Contest. If you missed the meetup, you can still participate. Here is a recap of the rules as well as the assets you'll need to complete the contest. Twice a year, Adobe is going to allow our group to give away one of their Creative Suite Products to the group, a value of up to $1,800.
We've chosen a contest to determine the winner of the software, a design contest that will directly benefit a local non-profit, Namebrand. Namebrand is a clothing company with a mission to help individuals with tangible needs, through the sales of their t-shirts. I'm not a spokesperson for them, so I let you read more on their website. Our contest is to design a logo intro that they can use on all their video productions, from the soon to be finished "about Namebrand" piece to anything that will be produced in the future. Rules: 1. Keep the logo intros short. Use only as much time as necessary. 2. Submissions need to be uploaded to a video sharing site, (YouTube/Vimeo) and posted to the media gallery of our User Group site. 3. Submissions will be due the day before our next meetup (November 28th at midnight). 4. The judge is Skot from namebrandco.com. His choice is final. I realize that just linking to the site and reading the about page may not be enough to get your project rolling. If you have any further questions about Namebrand or the contest, add them to the comments below, and I'll be sure to get them answered for you. I will update this post as soon as we set the date for the next meetup, and as soon as I get the vector logo from Skot. Attached right now is an example of the tag that is printed inside of the t-shirts. Update 1: Next meetup scheduled for November 29th - Deadline for submissions is November 28th at midnight. Entry: Sorry for the delay in getting this posted. After a little searching and a little rebuilding, we've got the logo to get started on the project. Feel free to ask any questions you'd like. View the full post to see the attached file. File: name_brand_logo_cs3.ai (929 Kb) |
