I'm Adam Bell and I started this group in May 2006 to provide a much needed resource for the Creative Community that is Southern California. My Co-Manager is <a title="Michele Weisbart" href="http://www.micheledesigns.com/" target="_blank">Michele Weisbart</a> of the <a title="FIDM" href="http://www.fidm.com/" target="_blank">Fashion Institute of Design and Merchandising</a> as well as a freelance artist in her own right. LAdobe has meetings once a month with the exception being the holiday period of November/December where we tie in that meeting into one big nighttime event. Our current homebase for our meetings in the <a title="Art Institute California-Hollywood" href="http://www.artinstitutes.edu/hollywood/" target="_blank">Art Institute California-Hollywood</a> where we meet on the fourth Thursday of each month (but please note the December 4th date for our next meeting) at 7pm. Our topics run the gamut of the Adobe spectrum. Mainly Photoshop but also Dreamweaver, Fireworks, Illustator, ColdFusion, InDesign, Lightroom and many more Adobe applications and plugins. Past speakers have included noted authors <a title="Colin Smith" href="http://www.photoshopcafe.com/" target="_blank">Colin Smith</a> , <a title="Stephen Burns" href="http://www.chromeallusion.com/">Stephen Burns</a>, Adobe experts like Alan Musselman, John Schuman and Rick Miller among others. We also do prize giveaways at each meeting and in the past we've given away everything from cheap (and not so cheap) Adobe swag, books from major publishers including <a title="Peachpit" href="http://www.peachpit.com/" target="_blank">Peachpit</a>, <a title="Friends of Ed" href="http://www.friendsofed.com/" target="_blank">Friends of Ed</a>, <a title="Apress" href="http://www.apress.com/" target="_self">Apress</a>, <a title="O'Reilly" href="http://www.oreilly.com/" target="_blank">O'Reilly</a>, <a title="Focal Press" href="http://www.focalpress.com/" target="_blank">Focal Press</a>, <a title="CoursePTR" href="http://www.courseptr.com/" target="_blank">CoursePTR</a>, <a title="Wiley" href="http://www.wiley.com/" target="_blank">Wiley</a>. <a title="Sams Publishing" href="http://www.samspublishing.com/ " target="_blank">Sams Publishing</a> and many more. We've also given away Digital Picture Frames, Flash Memory Drives, <a title="Wacom" href="http://www.wacom.com/" target="_blank">Wacom</a> Tablets and of course, Adobe Software including Creative Suite.
