| About Me |
My name is Jonathan Heberline. I’m a 26 year old Freelance Graphic Designer who specializes in Web Design & Interactive Media. I grew up in Columbus, Ohio with a passion for art and more importantly a keen eye for detail. While others in grade school focused on homework and preparing for tests I was drawing and observing the outdoors. When I completed my junior year of High School I had a firm understanding of Macintosh Operation Systems and thoroughly understood all major Adobe programs. When I hit my Senior Year of High School I applied for the School-to-Work program by the recommendation of my Commercial Art Instructor who told me “I have nothing left to teach you”. My first job in the Art field was as a Production Artist at a local sign shop in my hometown of Reynoldsburg, Ohio. Shortly afterward I decided that it would be a good idea to further my education. In fall of 2003, I attended The School of Advertising Art in Kettering Ohio. While there I maintained an average grade of 94.3 on a competitive grade scale. I decided not to attend the last year of school. I liked attending SAA and the college helped me establish a great many contacts in the Design field; However, I did not learn anything there in my full year of attendance to justify another year of attendance (or tuition payments!).After College I landed a job as a Sales Associate at McCallister's Art Supply in Dayton, Ohio. Here I learned a great deal about fine art and Graphic Art tools. This is where my love for freelance design was discovered. I would be helping a customer who did not know what he/she needed and I would be asked “Can you do this project for me?” and I realized that Freelance Design was a path that I enjoyed.I had been freelancing for about two years when I was offered a job working for Cox Publishing’s Auto Trader. My job would be as an “Ad Builder” which was comprised mainly of Layout Design. I always enjoyed Layout Design so I took the job. While there, I climbed the corporate ladder until I was the Graphic Designer for the entire Composing Center. It was working here that I really honed my skills in Photoshop and Layout Programs including InDesign & QuarkXPress. Three years after taking the job at Cox Auto Trader, our composing center was shut down due to corporate downsizing. I knew the economy at the time was bad so with no hard feeling I ended my career with Cox and moved back to Columbus.I also knew that since the economy was bad that a lot of Graphic Designers would be making the switch to Freelance, so I took this opportunity to pursue a quiet passion I had for Web Design. I had dabbled with Web Design here and there, and now I had the time to buckle down and learn it. I spent most of 2009 doing nothing but learning different markup languages and WYSIWYG Programs and I teamed up with my Brother-In-Law to learn server-side scripting. Now I work from home in Pataskala, Ohio as a Freelance Web Designer. If somebody were to ask me why I do what I do, I would have to respond by saying that I’m living my dream. I spent my whole life looking for a good Design job because it is what I love to do. Now I get to work out of home and provide a service that I’m both confident and proud to be a part of. What I really love about being a Web Designer is the field always changes, so I will always be learning and evolving.

| Interests |
My interests are in the Creative Mind and its process.I enjoy Video Games, Animated Movies and Anime. I'm heavily involved in Boy Scouts and hold a position as Scoutmaster of Troop 68 in Reynoldsburg, OH.I dabble in Fine Art (Although I'm not very good at it) and enjoy learning a lot about anything creative. I'm often told that I run after everything and therefore cannot ever "Specialize" in a field in Design. I think they might be right!
