    • Hi Steve,

It's been a few weeks...and I've learned a lot.  But I have a couple questions for you tonight.  First off, I'm creating a Captivate module to be uploaded to the Air Force Knowledge Now Learning Management System.  The LMS is not an "off the shelf" product and to get the published module to work properly, editing the SCORM 2004 default.htm file located in the program folder was required.  I renamed the original default.htm to default1.htm and then made changes and named the changed file default.htm.  Now when I set my quiz reporting preferences, I have a choice in the drop-down menu.  Since this was done to program files,  wouldn't you think for every new project which involved a quiz, you should be able to see the same two files?

Also, is there some way I can change an absolute to relative path for my .flv movies?  I often work at home therefore, have to copy files to another drive and then copy to my home computer.  Every time I do this, the file path changes for the movies I've included.  Is there somewhere in the global settings or preferences to make a path relative?

Thanks in advance for any help.

      Gail

      • Gail, good to hear you are making progress. You did the right thing editing the default html - you could also have edited the standard.js next to it (I'm assuming you are making JS edits to the file). So you are right- this file in teh Program Files folder path will be used with all projects that you publish. As for the relativ path issue ... not such good news there. There seem to be some path issues in Captivate 4 that I feel need a patch to address. This is one of those issues. You should be able to use relative paths and you should be able to move your files between macchines without losing links, but at the moment I don't think it is possible. :-( Steve
    • Thanks Steve.

I tried something tonight...I just deleted the C:\Adobe Captivate Projects\ part of the path and just left the .flv filename.  I checked the slide and it seemed to work.  I will test it tomorrow at work.

Once you publish your project, does the path really matter, especially since you'll be uploading it to a different server anyway?

Also, since I changed the default.htm and made another default1.htm in the program file (under Templates/SOCRM/2004), why wouldn't they both show up each time you start a new project involving a quiz?

      Gail

    • BTW.  I figured out why at times my movies would appear to play in the background and not foreground.  It has to do with the length of time the slide plays.  I think the default is 3 seconds.  Well, by increasing the time to about 25 seconds, the movies play just as they should.  The timeline has become my friend.

The folks at SkillQ redid my movies using Sorenson...there's freeware out there...I just haven't had time to play with it.  But, the movies look great and finally work properly. They didn't recommend using Flash Movie Encoder.
