What do the member of LA.FO want this user group to do for and with them? Speakers, courses, topics, tips, tutorials, jobs, free stuff... ?? What else? Be specific. Let us know.
Hi Tim - what is Papervision 3D and what can I do with it? If I can use it to make a really cool website or add functionalty, then YES, I want to hear about it.
Other than this - I'm interested in hearing or getting the following...
(1) Tips and "how to" information for building websites, if possible, I want this in step-by-step detail, otherwise, I might mess it up. LOL
(2) Tutorials, examples, and free tamplates.
(3) Any helpful information about incorporating databases into websites. This would be like... "don't do this because you'll mess up that, do this other way instead."
And thanks for the suggestions. We will indeed be creating step-by-step tutorials here. Mostly in video/screen-sharing formats. I'll also post links to other sources for great tutorials. Lynda.com offers the members of our group a 20% discount and they have some great tutorials. Databases into websites: check. We're on it.

I can also ask a more specific question: Are people interested in Papervision 3D? If so, which aspects?

Hi Kerry.
Thanks for the post! Happy New Year.
Papervision3D is an open source 3D engine for the Flash platform. Basically, you can create real time interactive 3d experiences.
By simply installing the classes and then importing them into a Flash Action Script 3 application you can write code that works on this engine... This really isn't as complicated as it may sound. There's a good basic tutorial here: http://gotoandlearn.com/play?id=68 If you're not so into the coding side of Flash, this might look like something other than fun or useful. And it might be a bit daunting if you're new... But it's not rocket surgery! (Though, it is quite cutting edge.) Try it out. It really can add a lot. (You'll need to know how to download a repository from SVN for the tutorial there.)
