So far we have used AMFPHP for several large projects already. I will say that AMFPHP plays well in many aspects except their update frequency... just like Cairngorm... you can hardly see any update. Zend framework is much stronger in this.
Don't have time to try Zend Framework yet~ will do in the future and hopefully can post up a comparison chart.

Apart from AMFPHP, I think Zend Framework is a good alterative which provide native support for AMF.
