      Title:
      Photoshop question
      Content:

Is there an easy way to change the background color when working with a graphic in Photoshop? What I'm trying to erase is the same color as my background, making it difficult to tell if I got it all. I added a layer with color to my project and that helped, but I'm wondering if there's an easier way. In Chyron I can switch between black and grey backgrounds with one button. Anything likethat in Photoshop?

      Thanks in advance.

    • Discussed this with Karen. She was working with a product shot with a slight drop shadow, and when she selected and deleted the background color, a dirty shadow appeared on one side of the object and Photoshop's gray transparency grid made it difficult to see it well. On the Chyron, transparency is displayed as either solid black or gray. Two solutions:

Create a solid color fill layer by selecting Layer > New Fill Layer > Solid Color and select a color that is bright enough to stand out from your object. Then drag that new layer below the original in the layers palette.

Or: Adjust the color and/or size of the transparency grid by selecting Edit > Preferences > Transparency and Gamut. Choose another color that is easier to distinguish from your graphic.
