Good meeting last night, I am glad I came. I hope we can finish the Flash presentation, that animation was interesting.
I noticed two things at the meeting. First, most people seemed to have a pretty strong base in Photoshop. Second, most people brought their own laptops.
The idea:
What do you all think of having a quick Photoshop challenge at the next meeting? This could be creating a desired effect or using a certain technique. The goal could be announced a week or so early with a sample to give people an idea of what we would be doing. Then at the meeting a new source file would be distributed and we race to create the effect first or best.
Any thoughts?

I think it is a great idea. Let's get Hadley to set this up for our August session. That'll be like iStockPhoto's Steel Cage match. I'd hate to get beat up so badly but the rest of you guys will enjoy it.
Sorry for the delay on this response. I agree, this is a cool idea. I like the idea of coming up with stuff right on the spot. I'm not sure if everyone who would want to participate has access to a laptop. I'd like to hear what the rest of you think - please weigh in if you have an opinion. Thanks!
I like the idea.
(Gee, Hadley, you thought your response was delayed... ;) )
haha - better late than never ;)
I missed this post before but I love this idea. What if we did something like a live Veer Lightboxing contest?

As people arrive we could give them a set of (4-5) stock photos and a font to use. Then once everyone is there we turn on some music for 20-30 minutes and crank out different designs using only the photos and font. At the end those who wanted to could take 5 minutes or so to show off their designs and explain how they did what they did.
I think it would be a lot of fun.
