KCDesignCore "Giveaway" Rules
The grand prize given semi-annually at Adobe's discretion is any Adobe product with a retail value of up to $2,100 (this excludes Master Collection). The product you win may not be used to upgrade to Master Collection. It cannot be sold or transferred to another person once activated. We'd prefer you not sell it on eBay -- it's a gift! You cannot upgrade "from" this product to "something else." It is a fully-licensed, non-academic version of the product. Examples are: Design Premium CS4, Web Premium CS4, Production Premium CS4, etc. Believe me, people have tried skirting around all of these things, so that's why our list of caveats is so freakin' long! :)
Verified winner will receive only a download link from Adobe, but has the option to purchase backup media through Adobe Customer Service at his/her own expense (usually around $20-30) by calling Adobe Customer Service and providing your (registered, activated) serial number and credit card information for shipping/handling charges.
Winner will be randomly drawn from a stash of tickets (Neither Price Waterhouse NOR Arthur Andersen will certify the results...grin). There are a variety of ways to be included in the ticket drawing or to increase your chances of winning which are described below:
The grand prize winner (up to $2,100 of Adobe software) must have participated in at least two of the past six meetings. This automatically brings forward one ticket from each recent meeting you've attended.
Members who previously won smaller items such as books or shirts in an earlier meeting will have their ticket put back into the drawing for this semi-annual giveaway. Other, smaller prizes are open to all members, but the grand prize is only for "regulars!"
If you provide a 3-5 minute demonstration during the December or summer "demo night" meeting, you will be given an additional ticket for that night's giveaway at the conclusion of your demo.
If you bring food to share with the group, you will be given an additional ticket.
If we can verify your membership in the KCDesignCore group through your Adobe ID and our groups.adobe.com web site -- after all other qualifications are met -- you will receive an additional ticket. This is a requirement to receive the grand prize anyway, so you might as well set one up now if you haven't already!
You may purchase additional tickets for $10 each in cash (up to a limit of 10 extra chances to win, per person -- don't plan on bringing a stack of Benjamins because we aren't that easily bought, and you still might lose anyway!). This money is used to provide group basics (copies, printing, dinnerware, ancillary supplies) for future meetings and does not benefit any individual or company, just the operational costs of the user group. This money is NOT a tax deduction for you, and it's NOT a profit for us! Instead of dealing with lawyers and bank accounts, we will deal with cash in an envelope that your faithful Manager and Co-Manager may occasionally use to buy stuff for the next few meetings. Cake, anyone?
Simply by meeting all of the first five requirements above, you will receive five chances to win. Purchasing additional tickets will further increase your chances.
Current User Group Managers and Co-Managers are not eligible for this drawing.
Grand-prize winners are asked to give a 30-minute demonstration of their product at an upcoming meeting, which will be decided upon at the time of the giveaway and scheduled.
All winners of smaller prizes (books, other software, etc.) are asked to provide an online review of their prize for our group site and, in the case of a book prize, also on Amazon.com. Failure to provide these reviews will make you ineligible for future drawings. The only way we keep getting cool stuff to give away is by providing our sponsors and publishers with the benefit of user experience and published reviews. Please don't disappear with your prize, the world needs to hear about your product and how it worked for you!
You can still win cool stuff, even if it's your first meeting ever -- just not the "big" $2,100 package Adobe gives us twice a year. If you're interested in doing a review of Flash, I'm sure I could get a review copy for you. Adobe also has 30-day trials of all their stuff -- you could go to the main web site at adobe.com and download a fully-functional version of Flash CS4 in order to make your menus work with the latest .fla format. That would be my first stop! Then...come to the meeting and have some food :)
What if all you guys already know more than I do about the adobe products? I'd hate to bore the group...?? I spend my day immersed in adobe software- dreamweaver, flash, fireworks but haven't a clue what I could show you all to demonstrate that you don't already know? Any suggestions?
I have a bigtime suggestion... DEMO ANYWAY! :) Some of our stuff is rather advanced, and if your demo isn't what you think is advanced, chances are someone will get something out of it! :)

I guess I am not qualified. I didn't know about the last six meetings.
