I downloaded the trial version of Dreamweaver CS4 and have been playing around with it a bit. I created a site and made the index page from the "2 column fixed, left sidebar, header and footer". I also added a spry horizontal navigation bar (which turned out to be the most difficult thing to position). The .css file is being linked as an external style sheet.
I wanted to add a "news" page to the site, so I "saved-as" the index page as "news.htm" but it doesn't need to be a two column layout like the index page. So I deleted the sidebar and changed the margin of the content area to extend wider, etc. I immediately saw a problem. My index page had changed when I edited the .css file.
So here's my question. How do you go about pages without making seperate .css files for each page? Or is that what I have to do? I'd hate to have to "re-create" the header, navigation and footer each time I make a new page. The answer may lie in the "template" function but I haven't figure it out yet. Any suggestions or tips on how you work through creating a site would be much appreciated!
Thanks,
Jason

Hi Jason,
I bought dream weaver and installed it on a MAC, now I bought a laptop PC. Can I install the dreamweaver from PC now? Do i need to change any format?
Uma, I can't find anything on the Adobe site to answer your question. But I do remember finding something some time ago that said that to switch from Mac software to PC software you would have to purchase an upgrade - as long as you have your serial number. Otherwise, you'd have to purchase Dreamweaver at the full price for PC.
Of course, you can run the PC version on your mac if you run Windows on it. I'd contact Adobe before you do anything though just to be sure my info is correct.
