This workshop is part of the overall Wellington Flash Platform Code Camp and will take place on the Friday before the code camp.

The course will be presented by Justin Mclean. Justin has managed his own consulting company Class Software for more than 10 years and has a long history with Adobe/Macromedia/Allaire products in particular ColdFusion (and still has the 3 floppies it originally came on). Justin is also a certified Adobe trainer for ColdFusion and Flex and runs regular training courses.

    Agenda:

Please note: This is not a free event - you have to be registered (see link further below) to participate in this event. We provide lots of hardware and electronic parts...:)

A hands on course showing how to wire up basic electronic circuits, write code and debug the arduino open source hardware and software platform. The course teaches a basic understanding of electronics components, digital and anolog inputs and outputs and then moves on to add Flex into the mix. Students will wire up their own electronic circuits from basic switches and LEDs to circuits for detecting light, measuring temperature and controlling the colour of a RGB led from Flex.

All software and other hardware will be provided and installed on the day and working solutions to all exercises/labs on the day will be provided. No electronics skills or soldering skills are required. You basically get everything you need to start playing with arduino's but will need to bring your own laptop. Windows or OSX is preferred, but Linux is possible.

This course is being run at cost for the community and and we would like to thank:

Adobe for helping out with travel costs to get the presenter Justin Mclean to New Zealand.
Codec Software Ltd in Wellington for providing their board room as the venue free of charge.
Justin McLean from Class Software for providing his time and skills free of charge.

Please note that the price includes a full kit of Arduino hardware, multimeter and electrical components worth about NZD 120 altogether.
