Any ideas or suggestions to attract new members (and keep the ones we have!)

    • I'm thinking of having a ColdFusion 101 meeting which we can promote to the local university and college. If each member could do a section of a "from zero to hero" type presentation. My basic idea is that we start off with a simple contact us page, then add a form, then validate the entries, then send the values via email, then store them in a database. Nothing too complex but shows the power of CF to build something useful like a contact form quickly and easily.

    • I think this would be an excellent idea John. I have a friend who is interested in learning Coldfusion, but the discussions we currently have at our group would probably not be appropriate for him. Somehow we need to cater for both beginners and more advanced developers to attract new members and keep existing members interested. Why not have a format where we start each meeting with a beginners presentation, then do a more advanced presentation and then have a group discussion like we did this week.

    • Glad you like it. As we have a mixture of skills in our group, a mini project like this will let everyone take part in doing a small part of it at there own level without it creating too much preparation/time/research to get ready.
