    • My name is Jason, I live in York but work in Lancaster at Nxtbook Media (which just so happens to have been rated the #1 Medium Business to work at in Pennsylvania!!!).

I've been doing web development since 1999. I began working with Flash around '03/'04. And have been working with Flex since mid-2006.

I enjoy photography, craft beer (Belgians tend to be my fav), red wine, pistol shooting, collecting violins (one day I'll learn how to play them), strategy board games/RPGs.

I am probably most famous for my Rubber Ducky collection which has been featured in the news locally and on CNN.com

    • Hello all, I'm Matt Guest - the quiet co-leader of this FUG and also a member of the development team at Nxtbook Media. I live in New Jersey but commute several days a week to Lancaster, which should say something about Nxtbook. Since I can't usually make it to my local fugs, I decided to accept Jason's offer to help found this one.

I've been a web and application developer for about 12 years now, working in various languages and platforms from java and php to coldfusion and c#. At different points in my career I have focused on design, development and network engineering, but have always had an interest in Flash (since version 3, I think) and found opportunities to utilize it in my work.

I've also been using the Flex framework since version 2 and have fully embraced the professional application building tools it provides the Flash platform.

When I'm not coding I've also been known to enjoy hiking and camping, craft beer and butchering the ukulele.

    • Hey guys - welcome to the community and best of luck with your group and first meeting!

      Sincerely, Rob

    • No problem - best of luck! Rob
    • Hey folks! My name is Marc Esher. I live in Dallastown (York) and work in Maryland, making the dreaded I83 commute every day. I've been developing in ColdFusion and Java since around 2000. I am a co-owner of the MXUnit unit testing framework for ColdFusion (http://mxunit.org and http://blog.mxunit.org) and a CFEclipse contributor. I've been following Flex for some time now but have only started developing applications (nothing big) in the past few months. At work, we're considering a further push into Flex and Flash, so it's time for me to start learning all I can.

Personal: I have a wife and two young daughters. I appreciate a nice scotch, a fine cigar, and good beers (Belgians and really big IPAs are my favorites... I'd live at Stoudts, if they'd let me). I home brew occassionally as well.  I spent the first 10 years of my life on your side of the river (in Columbia... don't hold it against me!), then moved to the thriving metropolis of Wrightsville. After spending some gloomy years in Western Pennsylvania, I moved to Maryland, then back up to York to put down some roots.

Looking forward to the first meeting!

    • Welcome Marc, glad to have you aboard!

    • Hello everyone. I'm Shane Hoffa. I'm from Bernville, PA and serve as a Flash Developer at JPL in Harrisburg. I'm also the manager of the Central PA Flash User Group, and teach a Flash class at HACC. I have a background in design and post video production. I have a strong interest in incorporating video and motion in my Flash development. I also have a passion for teaching others.

Some of my personal sites are shanehoffa.com, and flashgoblin.com.

I'm really excited about SVFUG and seeing where our two groups can come together. Looking forward to meeting everyone.

    • Hello Shane. I hope you can make it out, I look forward to meeting you on Tuesday.

    • Hi all, my name is Jeff Sims. I live here in Lancaster and work from home as a Flash designer and developer for an e-learning company, Sapling Learning (based in Austin), doing educational multimedia and online homework. My entry to Flash was as an animator but I've gradually made the transition to doing more interactivity, and these days I'm usually doing some of each. I was excited to see this user group appear right here in the neighborhood. It would be great to see what others are up to, get more exposure to different techniques and learn about all the other resources and related technologies that are out there. Looking forward to meeting everyone tomorrow, Jeff
    • Glad you were able to make it out yesterday. Hope you enjoyed!

    • Hi fellow developers.  I am Terry Beard from Mechanicsburg, PA working at Dickinson College in Carlisle.  We are currently adopting Flex as our application development platform using ColdFusion components interfacing into our databases (mostly Oracle).  I have been developing in Flex over a year, but have over 15 years of [paid] experience programming in a multitude of languages.  My strong suit right now is VB6, ColdFusion, Flex, and PL/SQL.

My hobby / personal / practice site is threadmachine.com, though due to other projects, I haven't had time to work on the site.  Aside from work, most of my time is spent on my internet marketing business and family.

      Peace.

    • Wassup!  My name is Sam Shrefler and I'm an software engineer working for ThomsonReuters.  I live in Annville and my office is in Lebanon.  Most of my current projects are built using Flex, ASP.net, C#, SQL Server and SQL Server Reporting Services but I've used a variety of technologies over the years.

Glad to see a group forming locally!  Great work!

    • Greeting to both Terry and Sam,

Looking forward to see you guys at the next meeting which will be February 24th!

      - Jason
