      Title:
      Captivate 4.0 Help Please
      Content:

I'm new to the program.  While the help and tutorials are easy to follow, I'm looking for someone who is experienced in Captivate and who could possibly help with some of the nuances.  I'm trying to insert a flash movie (.flv) into a .cp I've created by importing a power point 07 presentation. I can insert the movie, set the properties, but when I preview the presentation the movie plays but is sent to the background even after I've set it to appear on top of the slide.  Anyone else run into this situation?  I've also noticed Captivate works differently on different computers.

    • I can help you troubleshoot this.

First - what version of the Flash player do you have on the different machines that you've tested?

Second - Have you tested the file *published, not just with Preview?

Third - can you describe the differences you are seeing across different machines?

And if you want to chat with me more directly, you should be able to send me an email, or follow me via Twitter if you look at my profile page (click on my picture).

    • On my home machine, I have the latest flash player...downloaded it this morning.  On my work machine I have flash player 9.

Yes, I've published and previewed.  Same situation both times...sometimes I can see the movie and sometimes I cannot.  I'm attributing this to "I don't know what I don't know".  I'll try your Twitter.  I'm on there also, but forgot what my login info is.

    • Probably the quickest way to address this is if you can send me your file by eMail. Then I can see what you see and we can probably figure it out quite quickly. You should see my email address in my profile.

      • Will do...in case it's too large I will use Send6.com.  You will see a message in your inbox or junk mail.  Have to make a couple of changes first.

    • I shortened the file...it's 324 test.cp, but included a slide with video...what exactly do you want me to send?

      324_test.cp (852KB)
    • For anyone interested in this thread, we took the conversation offline. We have working video after running the original mpg4 video through Flash Video Encoder. Might need to fine tune, but it looks as if the original flv might have been corrupt.
