Dan Wilson just blogged on the Model-Glue site about the idea of doing an intensive training over 2 days (weekend) on Model-Glue 3.
From the blog:
"We've been knocking around the idea of a roving Model Glue training center. We've already done this in Claremont, CA to members of the Inland Empire ColdFusion User Group and folks got a lot out of it. That particular course was done over a single day, to prove out the material and to be useful to the IECFUG.
For the next phase, the vision would be to travel to an area and run a practical, intense training in OO and Model-Glue 3 over a weekend.
We want to take a shot out there and see which parts of the country were interested in being first in having this training. So if you think 4 - 8 people would be interested in hanging out for a weekend and learning some good OO and Model Glue stuff, leave a comment on this post.
We'll take a week or so to get a plan together and then follow back up with more details."
If you think there'd be enough interest in the East Bay (or even the Bay Area), leave a comment on the blog at http://www.model-glue.com/blog/index.cfm/2009/10/14/ModelGlue-Training-In-Your-Town

Is this free training or is there a cost associated? If so, how much?
Certainly if it's free I might attend depending on which weekend it is.

Good question. I know the one day training that was offered for the IECFUG was free, but that was also an opportunity for Dan to do a dry run of his planned MG training at CFinNC.
I'd imagine there'd be a cost involved to cover his travel expenses and time. But that's nothing more than a WAG on my part. Might want to post the question to the blog entry linked above to get it straight from the horse's mouth, so to speak.

I'm working through all this stuff right now, so I'm in information gathering mode and have more questions than answers at this point.
I am planning on doing this training as hands on, in person as I think it would be the best learning experience. There would be a number of costs involved as well as my time, so I'd charge something for it. As for how much, and who pays (corporate sponsor, fundraiser, winning lottery ticket) all that is negotiable depending on all the elements in the equasion.

Hey Dan,
I'm a model glue 2 user, so I'd really benefit from a hands on MG3 training.
I'm the BACFUG manager so I'll put the word out to our user group and ask the other local UGMs to ask their membership if they are interested. As well as how much people would be willing to pay.
The UGMs could work out a "no cost" space to host it. Sponsors would be needed to cover food, etc.
The 360Flex guys are doing a hands on 101 Flex training in San Jose (2 days I think) for $149. I think the $99 to $199 is a sweet spot for these types of training. While many Certified trainings cost $1,500 those are often paid by employers. This type of events sounds like a personal expense.
Will let you know what the membership reaction is.
Sid
