Hey all, Izzy here again:)
The next meet is getting closer, and I am talking to Tom at Digital pictures about the date and getting it sorted before I make the announcment:)
...should be around the 20th or so.
It will be on a Thursday evening.
Brian Michael's demo on 3D object/AE & Photoshop integration is going to be pretty frickin sweet:)
He teased me with a few details and even I was floored with some of the things that PS & AE CS4 can do now regarding 3D objects and that process, so look forward to that!
Plus I'll be quickly going over a short Kinetic-Type shot I put together to allow me to show you some tips and tricks with working with & synching audio to elements inside AE:)

Also, I have a question for those of us still unemployed:
I have an idea that might help us a little in the short term, so if you are still unemployed, please send me an email, so I might be able to guage interest.
The last time I checked, there were a lot of us out of work, so I hope to get at least 10-20 of us together for this...... any less than that, and I might just do local interviews with some industry folks, and post the interviews, tips etc. here.
It involves possibly having a meet dedicated to reel reviews by senior animators & producers in our local vfx & broadcast industry, general industry q&a, , and a few other ideas.
Sadly it will not be a "job fair", but more of a friendly, informational session to let you all know if you are currently doing the right thing, marketing yourself correctly, positioning yourself so that when the hiring starts up again, and it will, you are ready to put your best foot forward, that sort of thing.
Thanks again all!

Looking forward to the meeting. I was there for the first one but missed the last two.
Your idea about a Q&A interests me. I will be graduating in about 4 months and would really love to have some professional critiques of my work.
Glad to hear that you can make this next one, and also good to hear you would be interested in a session like that:)
See you in a few weeks!

I'm already getting requests to expand on what my ideas were so here ya go:
In short, they used to be called "informational interviews".
Quick mini-interviews without the pressure of a normal structured application.
You'll get honest reel reviews, and a general industry q&a session from senior folks in our local broadcast/vfx animation industry.
Plus, you'll be able to put faces and names to the post-houses you want to apply to so you are not just shipping your reel to a random person that may misplace it, or not get it to the right person.
And you'll get a better handle on weather or not you are marketing yourself to your chosen shop correctly, etc.
Make sense? If not lemme know:)
This may take a month or so to put together, so fingers crossed:)
