Greetings,
I am trying to automate a workflow process. I have information on worksheets in an Excel spreadsheet that I would like to have automatically populate an Acrobat form via data binding. I have been working with Livecycle and understand the binding process. I have the book PDF Forms Using Acrobat and LiveCycle Designer by Padova Okamoto as a reference for my work. Traditionally, you would create the form, Save it as an XML form in Livecycle, then open the form in Acrobat to enter the info. Then, you would export the data to XML. You would go back to the XML form in Livecycle and delete all text fields. After this, you would perform the data connection, select sample XML, and then be able to drag each item into their proper location (binding the text). Here is what I am trying to accomplish:
I have created a new form, then saved it as an XML form as outlined in the book. I have converted the MS Excel sheet to a pdf. When it came across, it converted as text rather than text field boxes. I converted them to text fields with proper names. I have then exported the data to XML. I took all of the existing text fields out as needed. I have created a new data connection in the XML form, but find that it does not bind to the converted data as anticipated. The only thing I had not done by the book was enter the information directly into the XML form and export it. Is it not working properly because the form with the data was not an XML form to begin with? I feel like I am missing something small that could make this whole thing work. I apologize that I cannot send any more detailed information. Any assistance would be greatly appreciated.
